I never get point-blank anyway.
If somebody manages to sneeze on me I'm dead though.
I'd say it's all about predicting where the Scout will go next.
Master that and Scouts are dead meat.

That!!
keep yourself covered as best as possible and draw them out into your attacks. pre-detonation helps a lot when leading. If you figure they will dodge launch a grenade/Tow and predet when your guessing they will pop out at that location. don't have to directly hit them, they just have to be in the radius.
But that's all about predicting movement, leading and using your mechs weapons with some thought.

Sometimes it feels like this is my entire purpose in Hawken. Because no one else has learned to geek the fuzzy bunny medic first I gotta do it. Get in, straight up murder a fuzzy bunny, try to get out. In any mech that I can.
That being said, I know I posted earlier about how to deal with a Scout, and aiming practice but holy hell I just fought what must have been an actually skilled Scout because I could not hit him or catch him for the life of me. In the DM I ended up telling everyone to kill the friggin Scout first because he was literally massacring us. I am talking he 1 v 5'd us. I am talking I was in second with like 280 points... and he had five hundred and fifty.
It was like a glimpse at 2000+ and what I saw chilled me. I got in 4 kills on him across 3 games and I am proud of that.

1. Spot the scout,
2. charge up Vulcan, start making distance between I and the scout,
3. Once the scout is stupid enough to show its self, Fire you're primary off at it, wait for it to dodge, fire you're secondary.
4. Repeat and hope it dies.
Keeping space between yourself and the scout is key to killing them.
But i go close and personal half the time and win but... yeah.
Eh. i win scout fights 8/10 times. bruiser has air superiority, so its easier for hellfires.
Edit : YES I EDITED IT.
It was a bit too stupid for my liking.

Now, what you need to understand is how scouts get close to you, and that way you can anticipate their movements, which will significantly increase your chances of daging him to the point where he will cancel the engagement and run or you (or your team) will finish him off.
Obviously not everyone think the same way but, usually, a scout will get closer using the L dodge at first. The L dodge has a very simple concept; it's a combo of a forward boost, and then a side dodge, and the player will mostly boost then dodge (then boost again and dodge again ...) until he gets closer, or he might start a side dodge (so put that in mind, and don't waste your shots).
Usually after some L dodges, when the scout is close enough, he will try to shoot you with his primary, right before taking off; yea, he will mostly hover to get the best angle to hit you with the TOW. Because a scout can't afford to waste that first TOW because the scout can't survive for a long time if he doesn't take the enemy down fast, so expect him to hover when he's very close to you, and he might probably use that momentum to circle around you while in the air too.
After that, the scout will keep finding his ways to get out of your field of view and hit you from behind. And one thing to put in mind is that the very skilled scout pilots will mostly only walk when very close to their enemies, and keep hitting them with the flak or whatever. Because they don't really need to boost when too close cuz their walk speed is too high and the turn cap rate isn't enough to catch it easily.
So, that's basically an overview of most of the things a scout might try to get you dizzy and be able to make his shots on you while taking the least possible amount of damage.
And now it's your turn to figure out the most suitable ways to counter all of that, I won't tell you how because: 1- it's not the same for all mechs and classes /// 2- it's time for me to go to school.
But just bare in mind that making significant damage to the scout before he hugs will give you a huge advantage on him each and every time. Also bare in mind that the flak and the heat don't need to be accurate to make damage, so don't stand still and hope to win. And the last thing is that after you anticipate what will the scout do, make sure to shoot right after he finishes a certain maneuver, and right before he starts doing another one.
Basically open your eyes, think of what he will do, aim well, and lead your shots.
