Hawken's first season of TPG competition has come to a close, with Omniscient (aka the Unobtainium Unicorns, aka the Barbie Dream Corvettes) taking first place. They were followed by the Super Awesome Sparkle Cakes in second, and Vanguard in third.

The admin staff would like to thank all captains and teams for their contributions to the season's successful conclusion. Considering the league's nascent status and the pains of summer scheduling, participants should be commended for playing the vast majority of their scheduled matches – and all while maintaining an atmosphere of sportsmanship. We would also like to thank the developers for their efforts. Apart from the whole creating Hawken thing, their provision of private competition servers was a big boon for competitive play. Finally, we'd like to thank the TPG League for providing us an arena for competitive Hawken.

Season 2 will start in September; during the interim, we'll be collecting feedback about the league – about its ruleset, restrictions, maps, and gametype. Detailed feedback requests will be posted as August progresses, but feel free to comment within this thread if you're particularly eager.

Additionally, we'll be opening TPG's private servers to community events such as Weezl3's “Happy-Go Funtime Fridays”. Weezl3 (kindly) agreed to take lead on revitalizing Hawken's higher-tier pug (pick-up game) scene, and we plan to provide assistance not only with servers, but with administration. (Leon's looking super forward to Funtime Friday, Weezl3). In so doing, we hope to expand both the pug population and the MMR ranges involved. The servers will also be available for TAW's War Wednesdays (just shoot myself, Leon, or hestoned a pm, ticklemyiguana).

hope map system will change bo3 pick/ban, to make it more interesting for viewers as well to give more ways for teams to stand out,  have their home map with  unique setups and preparations.

That would be horrible.
I know the extensive rules can make it seem oppressive and unfun, but things really become a horrid mess when they aren't in place.

As counter-productive as it seems, extensive rules and restrictions help a more pure playing experience and they help eliminate cheese-tactics and the use of abusive elements. With the rules in place, you get to watch the players skill shine, not who can abuse the mechanics the best.

The TPG League was very enjoyable. It had a few bumps, but overall the experience was quite fun. Looking forward to the next season!

I'm down for some seige or MA for next season.
I think we got a large amount of the players familiar enough with how the league works for the teams in TDM.
I think the players are ready for it to get really interesting with one of the objective modes for S2.

And while it seems totally unpleasant, banning the incinerator might make the games so much better. I'll talk about this in detail when it's time to.

Yep!  Was fun indeed!  I'll admit, a little frustrating getting times together for 12 people, but was a lot of fun.  

Thing on Siege, I'm down with the idea of using an objective game mode this around as we saw strategies to camp once again in TD (a normal flaw in most games with their standard TD) and with such high TTK in this game in comparison to others, it can seem daunting to be even a couple kills behind.  The issue is the time of which a Siege match would go on for could be undetermined.  I mean you can roll through a team, or you could completely stalemate for 30-40 minutes.

Also, Incen ban or Papa ban needs to be in place.  That thing is just far too strong for its own good.  Or at least something to indirectly nerf the tech/incen combo.

Force a choice_ tech or incin, not both.

I'm not sure I have a problem with the incin and tech though. Its strong, sure, but both teams can play it, and in the current state both teams know that there will be an incin and a tech on both sides. It may be boring but no one is deriving an unfair advantage from it.

First video game league i've been apart of and it was fun.  Even the Unicorn and HFC stomps weren't that unsettling.  Hoping to join for the next season if any team has an open spot.
