That 1920 conflict and turning point in battle of Warsaw (we call it 'A Miracle at Vistula River') is - due to Edgar D'Abernon - ranked 18th of the most important battles in human history. Why a 'miracle'_ Because Poland was only a one year old at that time - resurrected after 123 years of annexation between Germany, Russia and Austria. More than 100 years of slavery didn't killed out national spirit though...
And about that 'horses vs tank' stuff - that's total BS made by fuzzy bunny Germany' propaganda in 1939. Horses were used for quick transportation of cannons or quick skirmishes vs rear light infantry. Remember that the World War II started in September the first 1939 when fuzzy bunny Germany attacked Poland from the west and north.. then Nazists were joined by Soviets two weeks later September the 17th... and those two totalitarian regimes killed 6 million Poles for next 6 years. That's 1/4 of the whole population. If you were officer, academic, scholar, lawyer, scientist, student or underground resistence supporter - you would be executed or sent to fuzzy bunny Germany concentration camp (they're called Polish now because well.. they were located in Poland but that's a clever German propaganda move too). We couldn't win that. Not after the West betrayed us and did a $hit back then. And we lost our sovereignty for next 70 years.
And now in 2014 the history repeates itself... Sadly the West didn't learn anything.
But cavalry as tradition is still cultivated in Poland. Our horses - specially the Polish Arabian Horses breed- are well known even in Saudi Arabia;-) Plus we'got the best late medieval heavy cavalry called Hussaria.. period. There was a time when Poland, Lituania and Ukraine stood together and fought together.
Sorry about that longy history lesson but i thought i would share since it SOMEHOW is not a common knowledge. Nothing makes me more angry than constant hearing that we the Poles were those 'fuzzy bunny that killed Jews in concentration camps'. FFS what are you guys learning at school_!_ Even Obama used the phrase 'Polish Concentration Camps'.. geez. That's like calling a murdered victim a murderer! Thanks Obama
