So when you kill a fellow mech pilot (or are being killed) it explodes right_ You see a nice explosion animation and everything goes kaboom! But, when you stand next to it, the explosion stays just a mere animation.

Suggestion: When the killer is standing next to the exploding enemy, it will gain a small amount of explosion damage.

The explosion should not be friendly fire. As this applies for every other friendly explosion and/or bullets. (Although it would be a funny scene when all low-health teammates stand next to each other and one teammate dies ^.^)

We've talked about this actually (and might have even tested it out at one point).  It's a cool idea, but in the end most players just feel frustrated - they got a kill (woo hoo!) and then it gets thrown right in their face.

If we ever do a hardcore "realism" mode of some sort, with friendly fire and tons of other tweaks that the sim-style mech lovers want, and that might be a good place for it.  Just for reference, that sort of mode is in no way planned at the moment haha.  There's tons of other awesome Hawken stuff we'd like to get done first (and you'll be happy we did).

+1 for a realism mode. Like the dev says though, it can wait. The game is great, but there are certainly a few rough edges that should be polished up before anyone thinks about exploding mechs causing damage.

The issue I have here is for very close quarters fights, like Siege maps, when you've got masses of mechs all clambering around the AA, that it would quickly turn into a clusterf~ moreso than it currently is.

Imagine the chain reaction as multiple mechs blow up one after the other....

Okay that would probably be kinda awesome.
