UPDATE: http://community.pla...__20#entry86710

---

That's kind of disappointing, to say the least... do you know how long it'll take for me to get 9200 Hawken Points to buy another mech, even with the doubled rate_ Even assuming a good game of Siege, we're talking 250-300 per game_ Certainly no more than 400_

CBE1 testers should've been given at least another 2500-3000, I think...

I agree, It is kind of disheartening to have to grind the points for a new bot with the current point gain rate. Only 5 days of beta, dont want to spend half of it getting a robot =_=

Was hoping to try out something different this phase. I ended up spending all my MP last phase and only really got to play the Brawler.

You could always open a support ticket and ask them to reset your account.... doesn't hurt to try.

Well, I'd rather not have my account reset, as I got two L20 mechs already.

I'd planned to test Rocketeer and Infiltrator a lot this beta, but needless to say, I'd have to grind like mad to buy both of those; I'd be lucky to get even one.

If this were retail, I'd likely be buying Meteor Points anyway, so why not just toss a few thousand more so that those of us who tested some classes in CBE1 can test some others in CBE2_

I was happy to see my mechs still in the shop but pretty disheartened as well when I didn't see any new points to spend on a new one, I doubt  I'll make enough points during this 5 day period to get a new one, was sorta a buzz kill.

I WAS JUST ABOUT TO POST THIS!

I spent all my points into a stupid brawler, and now it's worse than ever.
I was hoping to get to try new stuff!

Guys. Hawken devs want to torture us. D:

Ah, but if you weren't in CBE1 then this is your own fault. :P

There is a reason I said CBE1 testers explicitly, since new testers obviously get several thousand Meteor Points, and the devs explicitly asked us to buy boosts to test the boost system in CBE1 as well as other things.

EDIT: Nevermind, seems you could have been in CBE1. In this case, yes, you should get some more.

It seems like an accident or oversight. How are they supposed to see how we spend money if we don't have any to spend and can't buy more_

Maybe they are expecting you to try the earned method to see if the current values are acceptable_ They did change how much you make per match, so it's highly possible they'd like feedback on that aspect.

They doubled it from CBE1 level, as you should know.

That means even if you play Siege and get 250 HP a match, it'd still take almost 37 matches to buy a single mech. (9200 / 250 = 36.8.)

Now, to get that much in a Siege match, you need about half an hour. This means you will need to play approximately 18 hours to get a single mech.

Now, that isn't too bad for an open beta where stuff's always running, but in a time-limited, six-day beta, it'd be rather hard to find the time. I managed to do 23 hours for CBE1; thanks to the boosters I was able to 20 two mechs.

With this, I'd have to grind an awful lot to buy one, and I might only get a couple days to actually use it.

They're probably watching buying habits with Hawken points right now and seeing what changes (this would be like checking in on someone after a week/2 weeks of game time where they have some unlocks and seeing if they feel motivated enough to grind to other things)

Well, I know what I'll be buying next, but it'll take me ~3000 Hawken Points just to get there. :P

Also, they could be keeping the points low enough to stop people from buying all the mechs to see what people gravitate towards/steer away from when funds are limited. Just about any data they get from this side of things could be absurdly helpful to them.

2500-3000 MP would allow you to buy only two mechs (they're 1030 apiece).

As for your point... that's silly. People will pick the mechs they feel are the best suited for them, MP or no MP.

Well that's the point. If people are buying one mech over another (like Infiltrator over berserker by a significant margin), they'll realize there's most likely something wrong with the mech's presentation/something making it unattractive. You don't really want options to seem unattractive, otherwise people won't make money.
