Honestly, knock off a single night on that time and it seems like it'd be ok.

EDIT: Though Hawken does need something to grease the wheels for new players, so to speak. Like a discount on your first mech purchase. Kiwi feels Tribes: Ascend had a decent idea with the classes them selves being cheap to unlock (about 7-9 games for a whole new class) while weapons being more costly. What's important is that players have some options to help get them invested early on.

To be honest, I don't understand why there's a stinginess towards either giving people unlimited points or making everything free. This is supposed to be a beta test and nothing we do here is going to carry over to the release anyway, so why not just step back and let us test stuff_

Because they're testing the economy as well, if they had just given us everything, then they wouldn't have known that HP rate was way too low. One or two people might have said something, but more people would raise a stink if they couldn't get whatever they wanted.

If that's all that's left to do, they may as well go ahead and move forward to Open Beta. Economy balancing can come later.

That is far from the only thing left to do, or maybe you didn't notice the dozens of threads complaining/reporting major problems with the client crashing, being unable to connect to game servers, and a number of other problems related to the servers having trouble.

This is why the game is still in Closed Beta, and this is why you have been invited to test it.

You joined after the reset, so you should have started with 4800/4800 HP and MP.
