First of all, I should have said "could" rather than "should".

After playing one of those fierce DM games we played yesterday -with very skilled players-, I definitely believe that at least the second player should deserve recognition. Often, the winner has only one more kill than the second guy.

But there's a scoreboard everyone can look at.
They can see that the hypothetical skilled 2nd place person did well, and just didn't quite make it.
And if you feel strongly enough that they did well, just tell them so in chat.

This is just a minor touch for the game.

My suggestion is on these forum pages. If devs do think that this would be appropiate then we'll see it in the game. If not then .. let it be.

Still I think that the sound backgrounds would be something cool in the game.

Other than that.. whatever.

What about a DM Trophy case_ Something that keeps track of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes for all to see in your profile_ I know that isn't DIRECTLY related to the suggestion here, but at least it helps calm you down after the fact if you do well enough.

Actually, I just lost The Game.

You might have too; like this post if you did.

What I'd like is an award for making people ragequit. I made like literally two dozen people throw their hands up and leave the server not too long after I killed them over the course of my playsession Saturday night.

It could even have a nice little vocal effect and popup, like Heroes of Newerth.

US East, and it's not like I intended for them to ragequit. It just happened.

That said, such threats don't put fear in me. I know I can back up my talk. There's a difference between arrogance and confidence.

Arrogance would be "I'm better than you."

Alright then.

Believe me, I actually hate really arrogant players. I used to play one in UT2004 - worse, he was slightly better skilled than me, so he could run his mouth a fair bit.

But usually, the really good players don't need to say "I'm better than you." The trail of bodies - or in this game's case, smoking scrap - does all the talking for them. :P

Additionally players scoring positions 2 and 3 should receive a message beneath the main msg too..

Also, 4 different wave sounds might be played at the end of the match and according to his results. For example:

Positions:
1.- Party in the garage! :D
2.- All mechanics clapping and whistling in the garage_
3.- Encouragements plus some applause_
4.- Background loop "in the garage".

Just an idea.. although this would be fun, IMO. :)

I want this, i can already imagine my female mechanic greeting me with half unzipped overalls and a bottle of champagne.

Click me! I dare you.

Nobody cares about your pilot. She's going to get blown up along with the mech she's in anyway.

Besides, dead girls can't smile.

What if we all go back on topic_

@DarkPulse: Good to know, because I hate abusing of noobs and obviously that's not a good thing for the game either; nor for the short nor the long term.

Hehehe what an offtop (but i liked it :P )
RageQuit award, nice idea.
But it could be too discouraging for new players :S... yet they wouldn't see it after ragequitting and some noobs that'd fill kinda weak at the beggining could actually be encouraged knowing that there are players (probably) worse or more frustrated than them... hmm... .

Indeed. A lot of people are still green to the game (we're going to get even more in CBE3 and yet more in Open Beta - lots more) but it's not like I intentionally go pubbie stomping. I've just played FPS games for far too long (over 20 years in all) that really, I'm going to have an edge in experience no matter what. Once I adopt to a game's differences, I pretty much do good in just about any of 'em.

I would admittedly still like an award if I directly cause someone to leave a server though. :P
