I played a little bit of MW4, and Mech Commander. I'm also really enjoying Mechwarrior Online.

Anime, yes.
anime was what started all this so it's basically you either like anime or you like something that got inspiration from anime.
EVA, Gundam, TTGL, Godannar etc.
But why I got my eyes on this game is because it's basically Steel Batallion without the cockpit accessorie kit.

Armored Core kept me going.
My mech-love reached a boiling point as I watched New Getter Robo.
The flame of change never burns unopposed.

I'm usually not a huge mech fan (I prefer PVE games and infantry combat), but an acqaintance from TV Tropes nagged me into playing Battletech (the tabletop version) with him, and some campaigns of Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries later and his incessent braying about getting me into HUKEN!!!, I gave in and downloaded this and MWO.
I regret nothing.

Being such an avid Mechwarrior fan [except for MWO :P ] who also used to do pen-and-paper role play, I've always wanted to try the legit Battletech game, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'm curious as to where you could even find it now..._

...after lots and lots of mechanical influence, this following little piece found its way in my PSX and just got my heart lit up ^^ ( by now an 'ancient' piece itself, but years ago it was surprisingly new and fresh ^^ ).

What Odin said, but someone also ported the board game for USE ON THE INTERASS:

You'll need friends, and it lags on occasion, but it's good.
