[This thread had been moved. I realized after the fact that I posted it in the wrong section]

I feel like the back story for Hawken is very fuzzy. If the new devs came up with a single-player or even co-op campaign that was offered as DLC, I think it would generate some interest. Therefore, the online play would be still be FTP but the actual campaign would be available to those who decide they want to pay for it.

Hell, maybe even add extra unlock-able cosmetics only to those who complete the campaign or unlock achievements. It could also be used as a way to unlock weapons and items faster than just playing online.

Any thoughts?

I like the idea a lot! However, I have two qualms with it.

One is depending on the business model they decide to go with it, it could turn out very differently. If they make it F2P content but then put in paywalls, I'd be dissapointed. If they just made it a standalone piece of DLC, I am all for it, but if it unlocks weapons or items you can't get anywhere else, that's blatant pay to win. (If its cosmetics, HUD items, skins, taunts, etc only that would be fine, as they have no impact on gameplay). If they made it free content with purchasable cosmetics and in-game unlocks, then that leads me to my second qualm.

Which is I'm not sure the amount of time, money, and man-hours it would take into developing this would be worth the return in increasing the playerbase (for a long-term increase), and revenue received. That especially would worry me when realizing something like this would take away from development on the main game. However, depending on the business model and way its marketed/provided, it could be a great addition.

Ignoring EVERYTHING else, I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE A COOP CAMPAIGN! Gives me Steel Battalion fuzzies in my gut just thinking about it. :D

i concur with the weps, abilities forebodings. keep it cosmetic goodies, bling, Snob Skins, whatever.

Hell YES i'd pay for a DLC campaign or rolling-warfare themed concept--as in neverending conflict that you can join into around the clock.

Just show me where to start throwing my moneys.

I think if they released a relatively cheap, 10-15$, short single-player/co-op campaign (say, ~3-5 missions), and later expanded upon those episodically, they would get a lot of revenue from the story-mode player crowd.

I love this idea though. Would it not be great if they provided 1-2$ single player missions episodically to build an on-going story?

I will Give you my Balls and Left arm to give me a Campaign.

I swear to God, I will Sell my Soul to you if I could have a Story to FIGHT THOUGH in Hawken.

On that note though, How would the campaign work out?

Its not gunna be some glorified tutorial like from Starhawk... I mean, it got the idea across for its multiplayer... but you know, not much story wise to drool over.

Still, The fact its there warms hearts.

Even though this is just an idea, I would definitely like a Campaign. I might not have the money for it yet, I would still try to buy one.

I would kill for a good campaign. Also, I like Ws's idea of starting it short, then building on it over time. I feel like that would be the best compromise between time and money spent by the devs, and giving the community something to chew on. The HAWKEN universe is so well built, it's a shame to see it go almost entirely to waste.

Would I pay money for a Hawken single player campaign? Likely.

Would I pay money for a Hawken single player campaign that was essentially like Titanfall's? No.

I think something along those lines would work well, though its all in how they implement it.

A single player campaign for this game would be awesomesauce.

Yes, I would pay to play it, but a better model might be to allow the first "episode" of the campaign to be played for free (mostly for the benefit of new players), and then each consecutive episode would be available to be unlocked using MC.

Just a thought.

Here's an important thing to consider though:  Would each "episode" consist of only one mission, or a few?

Single Player Campaign mode = Good

Multi Player Campaign mode = Better

Multi Player Campaign mode with a storyline worth fighting for = Best

I'd be all up for a campaign, but I'd recommend either pricing it really cheap for individual parts or bundling missions for something slightly more expensive.
