Now, I know that my profile doesn't usually get visitors, so why am I being visited by Ashfire and a lot of other people?  It's been bugging me. Why?  What did I do?  Is this some sort of prank?

As rude as it is, the puzzlement over the account name is likely the reason for your traffic, and I'm pretty sure you knew that going in.

And yes, I'm rude, because the guy knows exactly why he's got all the traffic, and yet he creates a whole thread pretending to be unaware of this, to get even more traffic. Almost the definition of attention-seeking. I put it more bluntly, though.

You puzzle me, Der. Very gracious response for someone admitting rudeness.

You're likely right in that he's aware, but just as I take some offense at your initial response (despite not being directed at me) while you'd likely let it slide completely, it's probable that Hijink's interpretation of social standards is different still. While I'm on the extreme end of attempting to show respect when I don't understand, I still believe that communities as a whole benefit from some level of tact even in accusations given that we've all been brought up in different cultures. Inflammatory comments often do just that - inflame situations, and to a level of nonsense far worse than necessary.

I'd guess the thread could be interpreted as a medium of playful banter with an intended audience if he's aware.

Seriously? O_o  I didn't think it was that bad...  Should I change it back or something?  I only changed my name to be something more interesting than good ol' Hijinks_The_Turtle.  I didn't think it would screw up the site that badly.  All I see is just a single solid block of messy characters smashed together.... Unless I head to my profile page.  Everywhere else for me just shows this:

Haha I've only seen it on mobile so LoC's description is all I know. It does encroach on your posts when you edit them, but it doesn't really break anything - just crosses some site borders that weren't intended to be crossed.
