So I was talking about some bureaucratic stuff regarding the Hawken TeamSpeak, and I guess I was mentally doodling in class or something, because holy fuzzy bunny, get this:

 

 

The G2 infil's ability is an AOE cloak. All axes within a certain radius become cloaked, a la mothership in SC2. Imagine some unknown number of cloaked enemies rushing the AA in Last Eco. Ahhhhhhhhhhh.

 

I don't have any other suggestions for it than that, but I think that would be a kick ass ability, and I want it.

I think with some tweaking it could work out pretty well. If that's literally the only stipulation for it, that leaves everything else free to balance.

 

I like the idea of team oriented abilities and internals.

One giant unfocused blob is already easy enough to see, I don't think making it 2-6 times bigger would be any better.

Ah, but the best part of the infil's ability isn't the invisibility to the eye, it's the invisibility to the radar. Envision an entire team up and disappearing.

Maybe G2 mechs are lazy, maybe they aren't. I don't know how hard the raider and assault were to make. 

However, I'm just gonna up and say it: I like G2's. Sure neither of them are good in all situations, but they cater to a niche version of the original mechs playstyle, and that is fun. And sometimes you just have to say fuzzy bunny to viability, I want to build something fun.

Well then, let the argument begin:

-First of all, no more half-a$$ed G2 designes, please. The previous two were utter garbage and an unnecessary waste of time and resources on dev's behalf.

-Second, we already have two cloaking mechs in the game - add more and the game will turn into a mess a backstabs and alpha strikes.

-Third, AOE cloak is probably the second dumbest idea i've ever heard after "remove the radar to make the game faster" thing. Why? Cause balance and gameplay depth. Just replace AOE cloak with any other ability - AOE damage boost, AOE healing, AOE fuel replenishment - an you will see how broken the concept you're suggesting is. Also imagine what a f*cking pain it's gonna be to counter that ability, especially when the enemy has radar scramblers in addition.

 

So no AOE cloak or G2 Inf, thanks.

Actually I think a G2 Infiltrator would be a welcome edition since the G2's are at least distinct and work differently from their base counterparts. However I'd suggest that the ability be an AoE of holos. Imagine having a half dozen of the same mech all spread around in a radius just standing there doing nothing, confusing the enemy like mad. Maybe this is more joke material than serious, but it could work if implemented correctly.

G2's are not half-assed and they have a place in the game imo. I don't like g2a but i still think it should stay.
Offtopic: modify the predator camo a bit. It has that annoying outline and it should be just a fuzzy foggy mirage-type thing with no outline.
Ontopic: i secretly like op's suggestion, just don't tell anyone they start picking on me. :/

Good lord I didn't see that anyone had responded to this and didn't have quote notifications on at the time.

1. Opinion- and an unpopular one at that.
2. Unverified hypothesis- though most people call the ability to do so "positioning".
3. Opinion. But at least this one I can work with. Frankly I don't see the "broken" part of AOE anything if AOE is the only stipulation. We have AOE damage, it's called splash. Also nothing counters infils ability other than its own cool down and fuel consumption. Nothing counters any mechs ability. They're meant to be strict advantages, even though the infiltrator actually breaks that plane. Hell, you could balance it to be AOE invis with the exception of the one mech using the ability of you wanted to. I don't see the notion of a teamwork based ability to be gamebreaking.
