Greetings pilots! In response to the significant show of interest for this event in the community, I have given the project a go. Here are the details.

 

The event will take place on Saturday, August 15th at 1pm EST in the Community Teamspeak (ts5.gameservers.com:9152).

 

Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting and bring their concerns regarding the topic at hand to the other participants. That being said, the agenda is as folows.

 

1. TPG Twitch Channel (CLM)

 

2. Monthly Top 5 plays (Merl-in place of Jeff the elitist scum) 

 

3. Shared Youtuber/streamer twitter (eth0)

 

4. Hawken Films (RainbowSheep+others?)

 

5. Associated EU Projects (Dr. Freeze)

 

6. Open Forum (everyone)

 

I am looking forward to everyone's input and dedication to these projects.

 

If you are going to attend please state your purpose for doing so in a reply to this thread. This is so the agenda will be complete (in case you want to add something) and so we will know what preparations need to be made.

Merl, thanks for getting some heads together for some coordination and co-promotion. Seems pretty open ended topic and goal-wise, but I guess that's the idea? Anyway it'll be good to see what comes of it. Maybe some kind of new player promotion/retention effort?

Couldn't show up cuz Priority Target, but watched the VOD. Here are notes I took while watching. Note that this is stream of conciousness, ordered as the conversation progressed. Its a copy paste from a txt file I hacked out as I watched the recodring.

The Hawken Collective is high all the time.

Matches would be easier to watch as a highlight reel than raw footage of the entire thing.

Merl still doesn't know who to pronounce my name.

meeting agenda is :TPG twitch channel, top5 plays, community youtube/stream twitter, Hawken films, then open forum.

There was going to be a Hawken series, but MTR/ADH whiffed it bla bla bla.

Merl plays the trailer for the series, but only Audio plays on stream. (editors note: watch the trailer. That infil totally has a SAARE)

Merl's favorite mech is the technician.

Feeders in TDM are bad.

Hawken films project started ~6 months ago. Objective is to make a trailer at first from in game footage.

Will result in a mech overview for each mech with some extras. Starting with the assault.

Hawken films is ~10 people at present.

Crafty is always angry, don't worry about it.

Hawken films could use some voice actors, BridgeB is siggested, though it is unclear if he is still active in Hawkwen. (Editors note: BridgeB totally has the best narrator voice in Hawken)

First person/third person tansitions, diagrams would be useful for Hawken films.

The first Hawken film is pretty much sorted.

3d animation plz,

Monthy top plays needs a panel of judges or (one motivated person) as well as an editor/release person.

For an example of what a top plays would look like, a hearthstone plays video is used.

Badtings can to the graphics, but animation is really slow.

Bluetoothboy is suggested as an animator.

Incentive for submitting plays to top 5 plays: MC rewards.

Unknown user makes monkey noises in the channel

Participants are impressed by something off screen. Animation of some kind.

Perhaps try to contact the people who made the original Hawken series.

Eth0 is still not present. Presumed high or asleep (or both).

Animate hands in the cockpit for cimimatc stuff, maybe use an actor hands with greenscreen.

Top plays will need good audio.

Merl has a "radio voice".

looking for clips about 30 second long for top plays.

Need a template for the top plays video.

Cartoonish music plays on stream. Unclear what is going on.

Counter and eth0 didn't show (?)

That montage is insane cuz the music works (talking bout LEmentals pred trap montage).

Maybe themed top plays (multi kills, specific mechs, pred traps, corner plays, nade shots).

top plays may end up showing the same players frequently becasue the player base is small.

More stuff to come.

Already talked to Tiggs about it.

 

There will be no MC awards for top play submissions whether they make the cut or not. Frankly I agree with this because MC giveaways for submissions to a recurring video series is not necessary or reasonable. Basically giving away money.

 

Forgot to add to this: The devs would be happy to highlight anything the community produces in the context of this discussion.

720p60 is a fair baseline, I think.

I would say 720p30 with a max bitrate of at least 3000kbps

60fps is awesome but not everyone can do it.

I'd rather watch a higlight of a multikill, crazy skill-shot , etc in a match or scrim from you recorded potato quality w/ out sound than a 60fps 1080p montage of cuts of vultured 1k's in pubs against randoms who aren't even looking in your direction.

We as a community really need to be impressed with the difference and perhaps this project could improve that.

I want to ask: what will the min recording quality be for a top plays submission?

Will there actually be minimum in-game settings?
For example will Plastic settings not qualify?

It's all about highlights.

Trying to order them in top 10's and fuzzy bunny is hard. No one cares about who or what is better, we need to just enjoy HAWKEN awesomeness.

 

Highlight compilations are what's needed.

 

If every frequent streamer was to port his recordings of good matches, he/she could easily edit them in the youtube editor to keep only highlights.

 

It's super easy.

 

I can make a fine intro/outro if anyone needs it. It can be added to the video via the YT editor.
