like most of us know who have played predator at the highest level,  the breacher fall-off starts at 110 and ends at 150

thats not much range compared to everything but the baby bear, the smc , and the hilarious pnuematic nailer

 

I would love to see the breacher range up there with SA-Hawkins and the AM-SAR

I say (as many of us do) give it way more range.

Something into 200 or low 200's like the range-end of the rpr-hawkins but with the fall-off of the SA-hawkins

This would give pred some long distance snipe capabilities but not as much as the sharpie and reaper share.

And it would give it some distance particularly from the bolt and to a lesser degree the eoc, in terms of weapon character.

Probably better to increase the min damage range than the start of the fall off. It already does 60% more damage than a slug inside the full damage range.

Why does the Predator need long range sniper capabilities in addition to what Breacher already does?

 

Versatility should logically come with a loss in power, but the Breacher trumps both EOC and T32 in power and versatility already. The Breacher's slightly lower on-paper DPS does not show in the charged -> uncharged combo (trumping T32 in burst capabilities and being damage potential comparable over a good amount of time) or how hitscan, especially perfectly accurate hitscan, is superior to projectiles when you consider reliability (trumping EOC). This is in addition to the penetration effect... do I really need to go on? There's a good reason why the Breacher is the best weapon on most mechs to get while being garage bugged.

 

The SA Hawkins is not exactly the best balanced weapon either, at least on the Brawler.

I like a bolt pred, an am sar reaper, and an eoc raider.
If the breacher had that range I'd never get out of it.

And Hygs, about the damage comparison to the slug.
What is the preds true primary trying to be.
Like Dew and many others of us have said over the years, treating the eoc p like a primary perhaps even swapping primary and secondary binds in a pred is a helpful insight.

That's my point, unless I stated otherwise (?). T32 works only at close ranges, while Breacher can do both close range and medium-long. The Breacher is not bad in terms of close range damage potential considering how it's competing against a 120 burst + 100 DPS niche weapon.

There are a couple of places inside the center area on Wreckage where mines (both types) can be hidden in mid-air.  You cannot see them, but they are there, stuck to 'something'.  And they can still be remote detonated to take any A class mech from full health to zero with one blast.

The Breacher has no feelings. It doesn't even respect bubbles.

 

Honestly, more range and versatility isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it should have a real cost associated with it.

I don't have a problem with what the breacher does or is supposed to do mechanically. I'm just worried about how balanced it would be to have a weapon that is both a slightly worse Sabot (that can shoot through stuff) and a slightly better MIRV at the same time. I just think sending the full damage range out to 200 meters is a bit much.

 

Maybe it will be balanced by the difficulty of using eocp and the low armor on Pred, maybe it will be horrendously broken with the built in wall hax. I dunno.

Right, so I think it should be apparent at this point where Crafty is coming from when he asserts that DerMax's comp experience isn't noteworthy (justification notwithstanding). NA comp towers over EU in terms of ubiquity, and Crafty likes to stand at the top of that tower.

As per Hawken, I won PT1 and PT2 (which doesn't count really), but way before that, I was part of the strongest EU team (way before the first season of HWK TPG took place).

To be honest the Pred with T32 or EOC is... not very good. I guess crafty plays T32 pred but he also melees with an AM-SAR reaper so whatever floats his boat.
