A long time ago, on a completely different platform, I played Conduit 2 for the Wii. Yes, an online FPS shooter game for the Wii. Sounds ridiculous I know but, using the classic controller, you could have a lot of laggy, glitchy fun.

Anyway, one of the key features to a game mode similar to Missile Assault was that the 3 points were different and gave specific advantages. This will help summarize it...

"All maps feature three of these control points:

    - Health: Increases the health regeneration rate of all team members
    - Speed: Increases the overall speed of all team members by 25.
    - Damage: Increases the damage of all team members' weapons by 13%

Generaly the health and damage pillars are near the team bases, leaving the speed control point in the middle of the map to be
    fought by the teams."

More info: http://conduit.wikia.../Control_Points

It gives a greater complexity to the strategy involved. And it could definitely make competitive Hawken a lot more balanced and fun.

I played that with the pointing.  I really liked Wii FPS games.  Conduit 2 could have been brilliant online... but it got hacked to hell very early on and the developers weren't remotely prepared to deal with it... so they just shut down a bunch of server bandwidth and let it die.

If that Metroid Prime onllne game had ever happened....

To be serious for a moment this is just a joke

Considering there is a total of one team remaining with anything like a "strategy" for Missile Assault, I suggest people learn to play the mode first.

I feel like this doesn't bode well for TPG S4

I'm honestly happy with Missile Assault as it is... we just need players.

I'm sure all the TPG teams have some strategic know-how of how to play MA. It's just that, executing that strategy against stronger opponents or just outright better fraggers isn't always that easy.

Come on Crafty, you have been officially called out on your lies. Your online reputation is at stake here, this is just like an old school street race running for pink slips. Its run what you brung and hope its enough. Put up or shut the fuzzy bunny up.

That depends on how strict the definition of "strat" is. I would, for example, consider "kill them in the face" and "run in circles" to be legitimate top level strats.

Then come on by the ts for a tdm practice.

You're bound to get into a MA game then.

I think missile assault would be more interesting if we removed the objectives and made it a free for all.

This sounds bad as you currently stated it. All your suggestion does is make a lopsided match much worse. If you already have a dominant team in the match making them "super mechs" serves no purpose.

If you are looking for improved balance(in the form of a tighter match) for the objective you could give the team that is lacking the node the power up. This small change would allow for a comeback mechanic for the underdog team. So if a team controls all nodes their opponents are suddenly stronger and may be able to push for a capture or two(even if only briefly).

I find missile assault fine in its current iteration though.
