This is PING! Anybody who was sad that were deficient of this thing can get more from me! PM or contact me via steam. 

 

I can't record a video, so I'll paint a picture of what nearly a 1000 ping experience is.

 

You get all pumped up! HWK is back! Its alive! So you decide to play a match or two. You fire up HAWKEN. Wait for a few minutes to get to the Garage. Go to USE because you know that that is where you get the lowest ping of 320. So you go for Coop TDM 'cuz standard TDM is internet heavy. So you find a match. Pop in and play. The match is just starting. Everyone is readying up but you can't click ready because you are still syncing. Sufficient readies received and your syncing finishes just in time for the match. You feel glorious looking up on the distant Sun and feel happy upon the sounds of explosions and crunching metal. You decide to be part of the action. You wipe your face and realizes that the mech is moving on its own. Involuntarily. You let go of the keyboard but the mech seems to have a mind of its own. it somehow goes by itself to the frontlines to commit suicide. You don't wanna die. So you grab your mice and presses FIRE! But nothing happens. The gun doesn't fire. After you lost 3/4th of your health, the gun begins to fire. FINALLY. You press dodge. But it doesn't dodge. You fire your SAARE and then dodges. But you realise that the SAARE did not fire. All of a sudden, a fireball fires from where you were a moment back and misses the target. The game is so laggy that eventually you are dodging into bullets and missiles that you are trying to dodge from. The guns stick. Deployable items don't fire when you want them to. The time between the press of the button and reaction is very high.

 

 

 

New devs. Please! Either make more regional servers or somehow fix this! I used to get only this bad ping in EU. I used to get 320 in USE which was very good! Please! Look into this. I did what I could from my part. Please do yours.

Where the hell are you playing from that you consider 320 good.

Holy crap, that's a high ping. I'm sure you already checked this stuff, but are you running any other software while playing that might be sucking up bandwidth? Chats, torrents, cloud syncing software, Windows Update downloads, etc., they can all impact your ping. Sometimes mid-game my phone decides to sync, and my ping jumps from 150-ish to 400-500. If anyone else is using your network, that can affect your ping, too. Depending on the type of system your ISP is using, other users not even directly on your home network can have an impact on your upload/download performance.

320 ping is not cool... I should be happy for my 250 ping.

I once got 9xx ping. Only Predator was playable. We fixed it by having the landlord reset the router & modem. Landlord was in the "dont fixif aint borked" mindset, so it took awhile of convincing.

You can set firewall to block everything except Hawken & some win services, though it's a bit of work.

My ping is usually down in the double digits on east coast servers, but sometimes I get spikes where it goes all the way up to 988 and then trickles back down. Up and down..

Even does it in gaming mode with no background programs running.

I want a 0 ping. 56 is too high.

seriously: you might do as said above, check that little task bar on the right end: if you have more than Team Speak, your "MSE" icon, update flag icon (shut that off for manual download), network connection icon, and sound system icon, if anything else is running, exit it. even steam

put a Desktop link to the hawken "shippin" executable in your steam app folder, and launch hawken without Steam dragging you down in the background.

beat up your little brother for downloading porn movies. smack your sister around for watch Justin Bieber streams (I know: Eeeeewww).

I also get 988 ping once in a while. Usually leaving and re-entering a match solves it.

Doesn't have anything to do with regions though, it happens everywhere for me.

Rozer can probably tell a tale or two about this.

The only thing that was running at that time was steam. My brother was playing Clash Of Clans. But apart from that, even with that load I should've got at least 500. 988 on USE was very unusual. I do stop steam generally and run HAWKEN alone, but I was chatting via steam before I played HAWKEN. I wasn't chatting while I was playing. I tried Japan. But there was nobody there. Sniff.



Funny thing is that even with that high ping, I managed to get 2 blue skulls and 3 yellows at Bunker. The matches before and after were a nightmare. I don't generally use TS. At one point the AI began to run just forward and run into walls and stay there. So there are not many background stuff. I am gonna try some other steps. Thanks for replying.

Cap, where is your general location (and what is your internet like)? I'm literally in the middle of the US, and my ping usually ranges from ~50-80ms.

My input: I live in Western Australia. I connect to the Sydney servers (in Eastern Australia), get 120 ping. Not bad. Connect to Singapore/Tokyo, get 350 ping. Just playable. Connect to NA-Dallas... 250 ping... someone explain how I get better ping from the other side of the globe than 4000 km away?

I live in india. I used to get 320 ping on USE. It was fine. As I said before, it was highly unusual to get that much.
