It would be definitely better than the classic "press this and look back" button, let by the fact that in a game like this, it would easily find its place in the HUD without seeming out of place.

if you paymore attention your not viewing out of any windows its more like a digital viewing cockpit. thats why the screen is never clear and its got glitchy momentsd and color lines.

it would be more of a rear view camera view maybe on the side corner. but then it would over complicate the game so much.

Look-back key, that shows rear camera (possible grayscale or something) in bottom corner would be best.

Also, overall awesome idea, cause with it you could dodge missiles fired from behind when running away.

I think a good alternative would be a peripheral dots/vision system like in ARMA2 or DayZ  Posted Image

Honestly, as for now you best rear-view is your radar. Maybe you can't control the Y axis 's pciture with too precission but I'd like to have the devs working on other game assets.. as for example new maps instead. :)

Well, why not just give us a dedicated third person view_  Over the shoulder never hurt anyone, and a lot of games have all out pvp with the third person toggle option, and it works well there.  Why not try it here_  Seems more practical than crafting a rear cam or sticking truck mirrors on my microwave bot.

Sounds unneccesary to me since the HUD shows you hits from every direction, incoming missiles and the radar is there as well... So no thanx.

I wouldn't mind have a button that toggles a PIP displaying what's behind me for a second, but not a permanent fixture. There is enough clutter on the screen as it is.

Yes... 180 quick scopes.
Yes...nubmisseswhowithatow_
Yes... cause I want to see the rooster-tail of junk my bots kick up as they boost.
Yes... cause I've run out of ideas.

I say NO. If they made it, it would be a waste of their time, a quick set of 180's is all you need to check your 6. I think I would be way too distracting if it was part of the HUD and if it was activated by a button it would be pointless because of the quick 180 (shift+S). Sorry man, I do NOT like this idea. A quick double shift+S,S is a super quick way to do this very thing, if you brain is fast enough to take in a snapshot in a tenth of a second.

Oh yes. All mechs are simply missing a very basic vehicle feature as it is. For a whole spectrum of reasons and situations, a rear-view monitor is clearly and inexplicably missing, and a quick 180-turn ability will never replace it. Flipping a 180 degree move and peeking at your rear-view monitor are two very different things. This deficiency and also the lack of a zooming feature for all mechs just don't add up with such futuristic and sophisticated war machines. It is annoyingly unrealistic.

Rear-view mirrors_ No thanks.

Perhaps a camera toggable on-HUD to view whats behind you...but not mirrors.

1. Of course he doesn't mean real mirrors, that would be silly.
2. He means exactly that: A toggleable camera view. Personally I would love to be able to hit z or something to take a peek behind me while fleeing in order to check who's chasing me.
