Undecided. But from a practical point of view, while I'm moving away from one point to get to somewhere else, the last thing I want to do is turn right around and stop my forward velocity, just to do a 'shoulder-check'.

So while the quick-turn of Dash+S exists, it is not the same thing as a rear-view cam that will show me exactly what that red-blip behind me is... Maybe then I could decide to drop / plant some of the excellent proximity / time fused munitions this game has to offer!

If this feature existed, it would best be an image displayed over part of the HUD and not a permanent part of the tactical view.

At first I read the topic and in my head i was thinking win, but then i thought about my video card and cringed.. so if they did add this feature i would hope they make it a toggle feature .

Not sure of the mirror idea either, i think it will be too distracting. But what about a lock-on warning display with direction indication...meaning, if someone firing hellfire missiles at you, it is better to know from which direction they come from, so that you can make a ideal side-dash escape.
That could be a usefull feature.

I've been replying "yes" to every one of these polls so far. A rear-view mirror system sounds simple but effective. But, in conjuncture with the poll about breakable/damageable limbs, make it so the rear-view mirror can also be crippled and destroyed.

Actually I think that keeping an eye on the radar should suffice.

This from an hypothetical standpoint, of course... you know.. ;)

Other than that, you always may use the force to anticipate future events.. so to speak. :D

Rear-view mirrors would actually be a cool feature to the game. By shooting someone infront of you, you could just look at your rear-view mirrors to see if anyone's behind you.

Love this idea, gonna add my thoughts to it (It IS a forum lol)
Damage: When you take enough damage that your glass has cracked, the mirror should also crack.
Location: Left and right sides, vertical rectangular. Slightly different positions based on mech. (Similar to heat bar)
Extra: This should be toggle-able in the options, as it may cause a lot of lag for some people.

I'd say no, this should be a strategic game that requires you to think ahead and guess the next move of your enemy. You have a mouse to turn around once in a while to check your back.

To me, having a rear mirror is like spoon feeding.

My 2 cents.

I could see where it might be useful; but right now I have enough going on with all the MECH Controls to momitor.  I like the idea of a toggle on rear camera in the HUD though.

All for the ability to look around/behind while moveing in a different dirrection...

Thou haveing fixed "mirrors" could be very distacting at times... (Especially durring spins)

More in favavor of a "look behind" hot key... (Or a 3D radar... plug)

Although I'm voting yes on this idea, I'm pretty sure this would be extremely difficult to implement. It might be hard getting it to fit on the screen without taking up too much space.

Remember that I made this suggestion without even having seen or played an alpha build of the game.. once said that.. I think that, at the end, it's much faster executing a 180º turn than anything else at this moment.

Now.. Back to the future! ( and hoping the devs do implement an air 180º turn as well ) ;)

That's a pretty neat idea, Silencer. ;)  However, I believe the ability to do a 180 degree spin with the mech will remedy the need for any rear-view mirrors. Being able to perform this maneuver will not only ease that feeling of being watched, but it'll also prove quite useful in many different combat situations.

also radar does indeed show elevation of targets, indicated by a small arrow pointing up or down.

Are you sure on that_ I think that what the little arrow indicates is in which direction enemies are firing..

Would honestly like to see a rear view, side, or even top / bottom view cameras accessible in the mech screen system. I believe they would be incredibly useful to snipers or anyone in firefights that get turned around the wrong way.

Have them in the options so they can be turned on or off via key bindings, and allow positioning on your mech interface.
