The HEAT and Sabot aren't range limited. The range they have is an advantage, not a balancing factor (like it is with the limited range of the Flak guns and the Vulcan). While it can be argued that keeping high speed and range leaves a large advantage in itself, this is not restricted to those two weapons whatsoever. As well, the mobility in this game is not such that you can continuously run away. Remember that it is much easier to engage than it is to leave an engagement

Yes, that's true.  But my point is giving a severe range advantage to the fastest chassis with those specific circumstances (HEAT/Sabot) would be game breaking.  You'll be engaged by an enemy well outside your effective range of fire who will be able to see you coming from a mile away and outrun you once he feels his position is in danger, but only AFTER pounding the fuzzy bunny out of you as you close distance.  If you try to take the flanking route behind cover, he'll just bail immediately and probably be off your radar before you can even get to his original location.  He can't run forever, but neither can you chase forever.

That makes me think of a new personal jammer item to increase your chances to survive as you desperately execute evasive maneuvers..
