Different mechs could be better suited to carry the "Flag" more so than others, which could be tied with optimization as well.

No.
If not that, placing the success rate heavily on the guy who has the "flag" is a bad idea. What if the guy turns out to be an idiot_ I mean, if people are sniping at the AA from a long distance with an AR, who's to say they won't move the "flag" all over the map, or worse, into enemy territory.

If not a player with flag, why not escorting a "flag"_ In that form each team need to escort the same truck to your own base, or something like that.

The flag carrier should not be nerfed since this would stop people from wanting to grab it. I think you are underestimating a defending team or a team with good communication if you think scouts are only viable. Teamwork is always crucial in CTF unless your team has significantly more skill than the opposing team.

Reaper and sharpshooters could easily be good defenders. You are still underestimating a defenders positional advantage and map control. Some mechs will undoubtedly be better runners, but to say only certain classes are viable is simply not true.

Plain and simple: I can only grind DM for so long, TDM is campy at best and frustratingly unorganized at worst, Missile Assault is barely a step up from TDM, and Siege is just bleh.
Basically, CTF will save this game for me. Preferably regular CTF where each team has a flag and needs to take the enemy's back home to score. It's a proven formula that works, has both action and strategy, and would play on the game's strong points. 10 mechs bunched up in the same area all throwing explosions at each other is not something I'd consider among the game's strong points. Splitting into small groups of defenders, flag runners, and escorts, juking around terrain, mech cat and mouse, forcing engagements to cover cappers, tactical maneuvers to cut off escaping enemies, duels on cornered opponents, etc, etc... Now that is something I'd like to play.

I always liked King of the Hill also. Most servers at the moment are just TDM and it does get a little bit dull after a while.
