It would be great. If somebody has ever played "eXteel"(another mech game), the ctf mode in that game was really funny! :Q__

I never heard of that game, but I was a huge fan of CTF in Mech Assault(Xbox live)..

A CTF like mode would be fun, but as stated earlier, hard to balance (because scouts have a huge bonus). But please, do not let the mechs carry a real flag, let it be some futuristic, end-time device or some E.U. capsules etc...

Instead of a flag how about a attachable cargo pod filled with some valuable resource or blueprints of some kinds. With this too it could also add weight to the mech slowing it down/ making it unable to dash.

Different mechs could be better suited to carry the "Flag" more so than others, which could be tied with optimization as well.

CTF has always been a fun game mode in every game that had it, I dont see why it would be a problem for hawken. And for the guys who say scout all day...I rather prefer a brawler and tech picking up the flag :-/

To stop scouts and other fuzzy bunny like that the mech has decreased boosting, dodging cooldown increased, dodging speed decreased, fuel restore slowed or the mech can only walk and shoot with the flag. It would be then crucial to have an escort  so you would have to have teamwork.

CFT is not so bad idea. Of course it  does not have to be a flag, just like others post it. It can be for example computer virus/hacking device what teams must bring to enemy's base, survive there ~30 sec. and return to base with it.

Infiltrator + Scout + train of Techs.

No.

If not that, placing the success rate heavily on the guy who has the "flag" is a bad idea. What if the guy turns out to be an idiot_ I mean, if people are sniping at the AA from a long distance with an AR, who's to say they won't move the "flag" all over the map, or worse, into enemy territory.

If not a player with flag, why not escorting a "flag"_ In that form each team need to escort the same truck to your own base, or something like that.

The flag carrier should not be nerfed since this would stop people from wanting to grab it. I think you are underestimating a defending team or a team with good communication if you think scouts are only viable. Teamwork is always crucial in CTF unless your team has significantly more skill than the opposing team.

Its the fact that the Scout/Raider/Infiltrator have a distinct advantage with movement than any other mech in the game that would instantly give them and their team an advantage. Some sort of Armor/Movement debuff would be necessary in order to balance the game to any sort of playable degree.

Reaper and sharpshooters could easily be good defenders. You are still underestimating a defenders positional advantage and map control. Some mechs will undoubtedly be better runners, but to say only certain classes are viable is simply not true.

Honestly, I am completely bored with Hawken right now. I'm not playing nearly as much as in alpha/closed beta, and I'd say the biggest factor is simply that there is no CTF.

Plain and simple: I can only grind DM for so long, TDM is campy at best and frustratingly unorganized at worst, Missile Assault is barely a step up from TDM, and Siege is just bleh.

Basically, CTF will save this game for me. Preferably regular CTF where each team has a flag and needs to take the enemy's back home to score. It's a proven formula that works, has both action and strategy, and would play on the game's strong points. 10 mechs bunched up in the same area all throwing explosions at each other is not something I'd consider among the game's strong points. Splitting into small groups of defenders, flag runners, and escorts, juking around terrain, mech cat and mouse, forcing engagements to cover cappers, tactical maneuvers to cut off escaping enemies, duels on cornered opponents, etc, etc... Now that is something I'd like to play.
well said.

Flags should be heavy and slow you down and you can't shoot while carrying them like in Fat Princess...

New game modes across the board would be great. but I'd like to see CTF.

I always liked King of the Hill also. Most servers at the moment are just TDM and it does get a little bit dull after a while.

Flags can be placed in open areas where bruisers/rocketers could take care of scouts :)
