I don't think the hawken team will ever make LAN access ... there is simply no money in it for them.

I was gonna put an argument to why it would not happen. but I don't wanna damage any chance of us getting LAN....

Haven't read every post but here's my view:
Allow local servers (elix said something about this). This would allow me and my buddies to get into a room and play together with good ping ( as opposed to the 200 min we have now to the closest server). Use internet connection only to update purchases, progression and stats.

There is actually a LAN support with the open command - as presented at conventions - but it is not implemented in the public build for reasons already stated above. We just need dedicated server support and a good internet connection at the LAN party. I am organising LAN parties for a while and I would love to introduce HAWKEN.

LAN support for Hawken should be somewhat the same as black ops, you have two different accounts. one for offline play and one for online play. this way you could play LAN but not get ridiculously OP stuff cheap by killing fake players and stuff. i am definitely for LAN play due to the network having several firewalls and blocks that damper online play.

Why are Starcraft and CoD4 bad examples of LAN party games_ They are and have been staples of LAN Party games for years.

CoD4 being the only modern warfare to offer offline LAN play. The other games we play at my lan party's are Blur, Unreal Tournament 3, Demigod, Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy, Tribes 1,  Call of Duty world at war, Left 4 Dead 2, Ghost Recon, Artemis, Supreme Commander Forged Alliance.
