vulcan. but only for looks (fire) and sound. weapon is still garbage.
You forgot about the Assault :)

But now i like SMC as well. Though the AR is a trash to me.

I've found the regurgitation of old information particularly confusing as a new player.

Granted, even though the SMC has a slightly higher DPS than AR, the range restriction is a significant enough reason to just go with the AR instead.

Personally I prefer the AR, it just has a better "feel" to it, at least for me, than the SMC. I tend to fire in short bursts when i can, so the Vulcan doesn't work for me very well. I use the SMC on my Assault but only because I don't like the CR-T and haven't hit level 25 on Assault, so I really have no other mechs with an AR at the moment unless I pull my CR-T out from under the dust covers.

i don't prefer any of them
Bruiser - Point-d Vulcan with heatsinks internals, the reduce of 1% damage is a minor setback compared to how long it takes my bruiser to overheat best counter mech for raider.
Assault - Sub machine cannon with primary weapon loader
berzerker - Assault Rifle with armour piercing munitions

Point D is cool on Fred and Assault. But to much heat on other mechs IMO
I am known as a few names. Sicarius_X, PilotError, and Archangel. Also, C-class master race ;)

very questionable builds

I've been doing well with the AR on my zerker, but I've been thinking about switching over to the vulcan. I think since it's a fast mech I should be able to run down enemies, and self-inflicted TOW damage is less of a concern after the latest patch.

I LOVE the AR if you can rapidly and repeatedly tap the fire button (left mouse)

I kinda had a feeling My point D vulcan wasnt doing 1333 dmg before it over heated. Weak sauce.

I'm confused by the current balancing. I use the SMC the most, and the sucker overheats faster than the AR but for less damage. It makes no sense to me. The Vulcan beats the SMC up close, and seems on par with the AR up to midrange.

Don't do it!!! I did and my rating has suffered since. It's great for maps where you can be close up with a person one on one but it over heats so quickly and has the delayed shoot. IMO it's not worth it right now. My 'zerker thanks me for going back to the AR...  Bazaar Map is the worst with Vulcan... You have to be so close to do any damage.

Well that's disappointing to hear—for my Zerker and for my Brawler. Ah well.

I always try to pick a primary that suits my playstyle for the mech's secondary. I typically play with an SMG on my berzerker because the delay to start shooting is killer when you are up close and trying to use cover. I'll put the AR on my bruiser since that mech is more suited for ranged combat and keeping people at bay. And the assault would get the vulcan - just to be different - and because it stands a better chance of staying alive in the open right in someone's fac - and because its ability is helpful for prolonged sustained fire as is the vulcan's way.

That being said, I like the vulcan the best because it is not "ordinary" or "boring" like the SMG or AR. However, the vulcan is presently the worst weapon of the three in terms of performance.

I find that the Point-D Vulcan is useful on the Berzerker if you like running circles around bigger mechs while shooting, but definitely don't use it if you don't like exposing yourself too much to enemy fire... which is what causes many high-skilled players to turn it down.

Which does not prevent spread accumulation anymore since they fixed that. So you're just killing your mouse and your finger for imaginary advantage...
