That's how development works mate, you develop and build for the largest platform possible, which in the gaming field is DirectX, which works on Windows and XBOX. if you're feeling bad about it, you should've considered the Windows only thing before you committed to a mac. Best thing is to run Hawken on BootCamp or something else (VMWare_ I dunno) using a Windows image, you may have a small performance hit though ...

EDIT: it also only lists Windows OS's in the min system reqs ...

The reason a lot of games aren't for mac is because the physic engine they run are not compatible with . It's not that they don't like  [possibly]. At the moment some games are trying to fix that.

I'd like to add one more workaround.
I run Windows and HAWKEN under Parallels VM (http://www.parallels.com/).
It works pretty smooth and has a good integration with OSX.

I use a program called parallels to play all sorts of windows games on my mac. Look it up.
