Complete guess, but from reading the Steam Transition Guide it sounds to me like it will still use the same account as the forums. Hope so, at least, because I'm so used to this account that it will mess me up for ages if it does switch

I'm all for Steam and all of that, but HAWKEN is kinda of a memory hogger and steam isn't exactly a lightweight, so performance will be greatly decreased for me, I'm sad about that.
And I have a PC that's only 1-3 years old. Built for gaming.

how_ also im going to miss the game being stand alone, this sucks, i know its going to be good for the game though. . .

If I have more than one account - because I sucked as Ishmael (had an old laptop then), but kicked tail as, say, Kieron, or Discessus, or a few others, I will be able to use those accounts_

Dude! This is awesome! Congrats on this major move, devs!

One thing though, I hope that a big banner or something is put up so if new players try to sign up, they are told why they can't create a new account (due to #4 on your list). Let them know its only temporary until the transition is finished.

In your steam library, right click the game you want (in this case, Hawken), and click properties. On that first screen, there is a box that says "Enable Steam Community in-game". Uncheck it.

Every account that has been created should receive a Steam code assuming the email associated with it is still active.

im just afraid that steam will put extra stress on my comp while im playing, it will probably give lower frames, and i only get about 30-50 already. . .

To be honest, i'll dont like that change, it should be more convenient allow steam users join game against non steam users and viceversa, i'll dont trust much in steam because the rumor of the extensive use of DRM on steam, something less worse than ubisoft drm but the point is NO DRM.

Other games have dual support, i'll mean steam users can play the same game and fight against people than join direcly to the game, not by via steam.

You're getting double what I do at the best of times.

Also, Steam wouldn't have become as popular as it has if it had a notable effect on computer performance, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

The steam key is just to be able to download on Steam. Then once in game, just login to the game with any of your credentials.

You'll be fine. The steam client running in the background uses about 35-40k memory (and with the standard 8 gigs of memory nowadays, that should be nothing) and barely, BARELY, any CPU power. I can understand if you're worried about the in-game overlay. It does affect performance, but I did just run through how to disable it so...

Congratulations on the upcoming Steam release! The game has always been fun to play since open beta, and can only imagine what the future would hold. From the list of stats and announcements given about the February patch, this will breathe new life into Hawken.
