Hawken downloaded on Steam won't launch. Pressing Play puts "Hawken (32-bit)" in the task manager for 1-2 seconds in background processes before it disappears. Redownloading and verifying the cache give the same result. Launching the .exe from steamapps/common/binaries/win32 is the same too, even running as admin.

Running Windows 8, Quad Core AMD 4170, GTX660, 8GB ram

1. Make sure you've uninstalled other versions of HAWKEN on your PC.

2. Navigate to "Documents / My Games " and rename the "Hawken" folder to "Hawken Backup".

3. Go to your steam library - SteamLibrarySteamAppscommonHawkenBinariesRedistUE3Redist

Run "UE3Redist.exe"

4. Download and Install/update DirectX 9 End-User Runtimes

Proposed solution is not fixing the issue and 5. Download and Install/update Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package, gives:

A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.

Check to see if you have process called lingvo.exe running. If it is active, terminate it and see if that helps.

Go to Documents/My Games/Hawken/HawkenGame/Config/HawkenGameSetting.ini

Open with notepad
Used Edit/Find and enter "resX" change the x res to 1920
Do the same for for "resY" and change the y res to 1080

I was having the same problem and tried all of the above suggestions and nothing worked. I was able to fix it by launching Hawken from the Hawken directory in the Steam folder. It's located at Program Files>Steam>SteamApps>common>Hawken>Binaries>Win32>HawkenGame-Win32-Shipping.exe.

If these steps didn't solve your porblem then you should create a new thread in the Support forum with the following information:

What are your specs_ (You can use programs like "Speccy" if you don't know how to get detailed information about your PC components.)

Did you already check if there is a Hawken-related error record in Window's event viewer_ If so please post the excact wording of the error title and error description in the new thread.
