SO!

Has anyone else really pushed this new way to move now that there is not fuel burn on dashing__

I find that me, a Rocketeer am sprinting A classes. Heh, who's the fatty now!_

Anyways, boost forward, look to left/right and dash that continued direction, and while you cooldown your dash, just turn back and boost again! You cover CRAZY GROUND!

Very useful for C-Class mechs out there. Hope it helps, pilots!

Been doing it for a long time. Not really a new technique, it's just more effective now that boost fuel and dodge fuel are separated.

Variants of this have been used since Alpha days. It was mostly used for complex evasive movement when dodging had cost fuel, as a way to circumvent the dodge cooldown.

Plus the new faster turn speed makes it much easier to turn back and forth quickly. So now there is also less turning time between boosting and dodging, and you can recover your aim much quicker as well.

As of this patch, I've been using this almost exclusively when it comes to respawn relocation, objective pursuit and EU delivery. It is not worth using if you think the enemy is anywhere remotely near your location, but in terms of hauling ass it is your best option.

The best ways to optimize execution are to use diagonal boosting instead of forward to minimize the time you need to turn, and to make sure you are timing dodges as tightly as possible. Beyond that, there's nothing to it.

I wouldn't file evasive combat movements under the wave-dashing tag, although I can see how boost-dodge combinations technically fall under that label. The applications are far different than the variant offered by the Steam version now that fuel is as it is.

It was fun while it lasted.

I use it as the Predator mech when I am in Stalker mode. It allows me to move quickly with out becoming visible.

Unfortunately won't work for very long. It has been stated that in a future patch (soon) dodging will make you visible for 3 sec like boosting/jumping.

I do use the wave dash in my Bs and Cs now.

How does that possibly work_  Stealth is broken when you boost in the Predator.

That was before a recent patch that changed that.

How recent_  That was only posted 2 days ago, and I've been using my Predator occasionally since the Steam release 5 days ago.

I know it doesn't work anymore. It does seem like it happened not to long ago. over 5 days ago. I really don't know.

Maybe he hasn't played in a bit.

Yes, been doing it too.  I'm not crazy about it, as it's kind of a silly looking thing to do and causes me to roll my eyes when I see it... but there it is.   The one thing to remember (and which I haven't seen mentioned yet) is that your fuel does not replenish while dashing - it doesn't use fuel, but you can't replenish very well unless you take a few plain steps every now and then.  On an A class mech however, I can pretty much do this all the way from one end of the map to another.

Yup.

Why bother boosting forwards when dodging every second can get you going almost as fast, but with zero fuel usage_ And because your movement is so irregular while doing this, you are also much harder to hit. Especially with any lag involved.

I have done this far too often to get out of bad situations.

We've been calling it skating for a while now.
Wavedashing is air dodge to ground movement in ssb.

Wavedashing was the shizzle.  This is not nearly as cool.

Super useful with A-class mechs too, you can move very quickly and I've used it many many times to disengage when I'm low on fuel. It's also a little more difficult to track than just straight boosting. You need to know this maneuver inside and out in order to be good with the Scout.
