I get the argument for assault, because, assault, but if it can't get "all around" then how can it be the best "all around" mech_ It's simple, and easy, and it's a B class with moderate.. everything, but it has a hard(er) time flanking and a hard(er) time laying down suppressing fire or area denial and it has a hard(er) time holding a line because (though in that case the award may go to the vanguard).. the TOW is just not that good a weapon to shoot down flying mechs (it can be decent, but for whatever reason, my accuracy against flying mechs while using a grenade launcher is far better than TOW) or engage in anything that has much risk, and then if it gets too risky, it has a hard(er) time fleeing because... B class.
It's a decent kneejerk reaction to the question, but... is it really_

All A classes are all abolished with my breacher.
It's decent against most B classes, but Raider.
C classes give me a hard time if in turret mode.
Answere is simple, you are better than the most players, whatever they play.
I can kill the most Predatorplayer easily with a Tech, but have a hard time againts you, whatever mech i play, the only exception is the Incinerator, if i have a Tech stick to my ass like glue
I would say, the most well balanced Mech for the game is the assault and i fear his ability. If i playing a A Class Mech and can't destroy him, because the player has realy good Movements (and iam realy bad at aiming) and my heat reached maximum and i have to wait 2sec for a little cooldown, iam dead for sure without a wall, where i can hide.
But i like to play A- Class, i love fast vehicle.

If i play againts Rasti/Ampli or another realy bad ass Mad Dog in the game, they can easliy kill me with the Technician, whatever i play, so formaly its the player, what makes a mech to a Mad Dog Fighter.
But Incinerator with PPA + Bad Ass Player + Tech (Armor Fusor/Replenisher) + Bad Ass Player = Annihilation

As for loadouts I tend to use, my basic internals on both are all 2 slots: Deflectors, Extractor, and the ever controversial Armor Fuser. Items, I tend to play these mechs as flankers with the ability to engage in extended firefights, so I carry Mk II HE Charges and Detonators to spike my initial damage.

Aside from the order in which the same weapons are unlocked (and default deployables) the differences compared to the CR-T are relatively minor/mixed:
- Pro
- +7.0% more armor
- +3.4% boost speed
- +2.8% ground speed
- +7.0% more armor
- Con
- -8.5% fuel tank size
- -15.4% fuel regen rate
- -25% radar range
- -30% overheat recovery rate
- -8.5% fuel tank size

I play much better in the Predator, even if that mech isn't meant to do well in the situations I bring it in. I do the Assault's playstyle better in the Predator than I do in the Assault.
First figure out what sort of player you are, then ask what the best all around mech for that playstyle is.

Being a Hawken noob, and only having played two mechs I need to say the brawler. The brawler is great for close range, and it can rain death from above. My favorite mech

Erm... I guess assault. I love the TOW; yeah I know there's limitations in not being able to hit things you don't have near enough LOS on, but if you perfect detonating it in midair... It's fun dps'ing a group of enemy mechs who don't expect the assault darting in the air to be able to target more than one at a time
But I find the assault it best at medium ranges; the vulcan is a waste of time as there's so many other things that can do good close range damage it's too easily outclassed. For this reason I like the assault rifle on it. But for this reason, it's not overly worth ditching the CR-T.
I have found myself quite liking the Reaper recently. With a Hawkins and air compressor, played like a carefully piloted assault, it's nasty at harrassing and laying down some suppression at medium to long range. However when not in a group, you're prey...
