For me, Technician, since it generates the most xp/hc, plays the most important role in clan matches and still has good firepower for mid-range support.

I voted infiltrator, because that's what I use pretty much all the time right now. It's the best all around mech... for me... at the moment. It's fast enough to cover distance and flank, can evade and maneuver well enough to hold a line until your teammates get there, (has the highest A class fuel capacity), grenade launcher offers high frequency splash damage that you can bounce and curve in a way that nothing else really offers and does close to the TOW damage while firing almost twice as fast, the assault rifle offers good harassment and taking down fleeing enemies, and to top it off.. invisibility in a pinch!

I get the argument for assault, because, assault, but if it can't get "all around" then how can it be the best "all around" mech_ It's simple, and easy, and it's a B class with moderate.. everything, but it has a hard(er) time flanking and a hard(er) time laying down suppressing fire or area denial and it has a hard(er) time holding a line because (though in that case the award may go to the vanguard).. the TOW is just not that good a weapon to shoot down flying mechs (it can be decent, but for whatever reason, my accuracy against flying mechs while using a grenade launcher is far better than TOW) or engage in anything that has much risk, and then if it gets too risky, it has a hard(er) time fleeing because... B class.

It's a decent kneejerk reaction to the question, but... is it really_

I'm an Incinerator guy the PPA is just too amazing when you know how to use it right. Never overheating is a beautiful thing.

SMC Vanguard, you should be able to kill an assault easily as you have more HP, as long as you don't miss.  Also grenade is the better secondary as it allows you to hit enemies in cover, and can be bounced around corners,  Basically it let's you do damage to enemies that can't hurt you.   Tow has some advantages too,  it is faster, grenade's move a little slow, this means it is better at hitting farther away targets, or targets running away, also can be better in large open area's.

Assault without a doubt. It was designed to function in this manner, after all.

My best all round mech has to be my PREDATOR.
All A classes are all abolished with my breacher.
It's decent against most B classes, but Raider.
C classes give me a hard time if in turret mode.

Answere is simple, you are better than the most players, whatever they play.

I can kill the most Predatorplayer easily with a Tech, but have a hard time againts you, whatever mech i play, the only exception is the Incinerator, if i have a Tech stick to my ass like glue :P

I would say, the most well balanced Mech for the game is the assault and i fear his ability. If i playing a A Class Mech and can't destroy him, because the player has realy good Movements (and iam realy bad at aiming) and my heat reached maximum and i have to wait 2sec for a little cooldown, iam dead for sure without a wall, where i can hide.

But i like to play A- Class, i love fast vehicle.

If i play againts Rasti/Ampli or another realy bad ass Mad Dog in the game, they can easliy kill me with the Technician, whatever i play, so formaly its the player, what makes a mech to a Mad Dog Fighter.

But Incinerator with PPA + Bad Ass Player + Tech (Armor Fusor/Replenisher) + Bad Ass Player = Annihilation

The Assault. Equipped with the SMC, it's good for larger maps, and it's a mech for small skirmished, probably at most 3v3, not majaor engagements, but with the Vulcan, It turns into a close range death machine. Either way, very good.
Charge the AA!!!

The Assault is a wonderfully balanced toy, but the CR-T should not be overlooked. It's basically an Assault with training wheels. The stat distribution isn't "better" on the Assault, it's just more geared to how players will play with some experience. A good pilot in a CR-T loaded out identically to an Assault is really not going to feel handicapped. At least I don't.

As for loadouts I tend to use, my basic internals on both are all 2 slots: Deflectors, Extractor, and the ever controversial Armor Fuser. Items, I tend to play these mechs as flankers with the ability to engage in extended firefights, so I carry Mk II HE Charges and Detonators to spike my initial damage.

I'd always considered the Assault as just "the recruit with better cosmetics" and a quick way of changing how you look, rather than being an actual improvement.

Aside from the order in which the same weapons are unlocked (and default deployables) the differences compared to the CR-T are relatively minor/mixed:
  • Pro
    • +7.0% more armor
    • +3.4% boost speed
    • +2.8% ground speed
  • Con
    • -8.5% fuel tank size
    • -15.4% fuel regen rate
    • -25% radar range
    • -30% overheat recovery rate

This question's answer depends on what sort of player you are. 'Assault' is the easy answer, and it will the a correct one for most players. However, I'm terrible with the Assault. If you've ever seen me piloting one, you'll know that I derp up and heavily rely on my TOW's remote detonator in order to get in damage. You'll see that I don't dodge often, you'll see me jerk my SMC around with somewhat awful accuracy.

I play much better in the Predator, even if that mech isn't meant to do well in the situations I bring it in. I do the Assault's playstyle better in the Predator than I do in the Assault.

First figure out what sort of player you are, then ask what the best all around mech for that playstyle is.

Yeah, but dude, we are at 1750. As much as we would like to be Professional Yolodrivers like you [Meraple] and Lightangel112, we're not there yet. It's something to aspire to, sure, but there's a lot of ground to cover.

What mech is the best all around mech for most situations and why_  And also go into internal setup if you would like.

Being a Hawken noob, and only having played two mechs I need to say the brawler. The brawler is great for close range, and it can rain death from above. My favorite mech :D

Well balanced. So good in all games and all maps_

Erm... I guess assault. I love the TOW; yeah I know there's limitations in not being able to hit things you don't have near enough LOS on, but if you perfect detonating it in midair... It's fun dps'ing a group of enemy mechs who don't expect the assault darting in the air to be able to target more than one at a time :D

But I find the assault it best at medium ranges; the vulcan is a waste of time as there's so many other things that can do good close range damage it's too easily outclassed. For this reason I like the assault rifle on it. But for this reason, it's not overly worth ditching the CR-T.

I have found myself quite liking the Reaper recently. With a Hawkins and air compressor, played like a carefully piloted assault, it's nasty at harrassing and laying down some suppression at medium to long range. However when not in a group, you're prey...
