To anyone who owns both: What's the Infil like compared to the Pred_ I've thought about buying one for those times when my Pred isn't the best choice.

Infiltrator can boost while cloaked.
This makes the class useful for fast assasinations.

Infil is easier to use imo.
Any of the three weapons are usable with it, but I'd reccomend the Heat or EOC.
EOC rounds travel too slowly to be reliable in direct encounters, but has the highest burst.
Heat synergizes a bit awkward with the GL thanks to their opposite natures, but you'll get used to it after a while.
AR works, but I wouldn't reccomend it because burst is king.

Alright. Yeah, I as well dislike sustained damage weapons.

What other mechs would you note as difficult to play_ High skill floor, high skill cap, that sort of thing.

The raider is definitely tough to use and master. Less forgiving than an infiltrator but more reliable than a predator.

Raider, G2 Raider are the ones that come to my mind.
Sadly there aren't a whole lot of hard mechs in HAWKEN imo.

Weird thing is, the Predator and both Raiders are my favorite mechs, along with the easy-mode PPA Incinerator.

If you want some Raider gameplay I could upload some in a week or so.
I outscored even ker4u piloting a Raider in a testdrive Raider a while ago, when we were a full six-man team of Raiders.

Alright. I've thought about going for the Raider, but I've heard that its playstyle is similar to the Predator in that it's a flanker. Not that I dislike that playstyle, but if I'm buying a new mech I'd rather it be one that performs a new duty. Is that the case_ Also, in what ways is it more reliable than the Pred_

Raider doesn't rely as heavily on stealth when it comes to flanking like the Predator does. The Raider is very speedy. With it's Blitz ability, it can rush through an enemy line, take out a weakened target and GTFO before the enemy team can retaliate. Raider plays very differently than a predator does. Click my sig and look for my raider video to get an idea of what it's like. But all in all, the Raider is a close range bully. As for how it's more reliable, it's due to the fact that the weapons are (relatively) easier to land.

Yes that is what makes Predator so hard to use and master. It's weapons aren't that easy to hit your target with.

Checked it out, looks interesting. Blitzing into a group of weakened enemies looks enormously fun. I do a similar thing with my Pred, when the situation presents itself, but it looks like those situations present themselves far more often if you're in a Raider.

And also that it's a fairly slow mech_ At any rate, it feels slow when I'm boosting away from three enemy pilots after a failed flank. :P

Yes, thread has grown a lot :). Minor touches made to the guide and nothing else to add but lots of videos and showcasing how we all use Predator differently. Meraple loves CQC and using Flak Shots more than snipe shots, though he has gotten better at sniping with breacher. Memag loves hitting foes with pucks while flying in the air followed by a finishing breacher shot. I like using burst combo's as my signature move and using corner play with traps while using AC to play aggressively.

I think it's really neat the the Pred allows such alterations between playstyles.

I had a few good DM rounds with Infil and Pred!  Me and this other Predator pilot had a staring contest for 10 seconds straight.  What did we do after that_ I initiated the gentleman greeting of bowing, and as he bowed, I kinda killed him.  (Sorry man, couldn't help it!)  The awesome part was when we just tolerated each other and left each other alone while killing other pilots.  So we were kinda sorta working together... XD  Didn't matter anyway, I was 3rd place in that match while the other guy was 4th.  After killing some time, we did the bowing thing again while watching the other pilots slaughtering each other while cleaning them up.  It was the most awesome thing ever.

I gleefully break this rule all the time. If there's a Predator on the other team, I make him my prime target. I don't want him to wuit the mech or anything, it's just that targeting him is the best way to keep me and my team safe.

As I know what sort of wild shenanigans a Predator can get in to if it's left unchecked.
