Just played my first match.

Searched diligently for a film grain off-switch. Found none.

How is this even possible_

Get this issue done.

A toggle would be nice. It can look a lot better. Also, yeah I noticed the Hawken promo videos don't have it lol..

I'm pretty sure that the graphics menu will get more options between now and open beta, folks. Alpha had more options, but there was a major overhaul in the UI, and things are changing a lot.

I'm hoping some of the more-harmless console commands, such as imagegrain, get re-enabled.

Make sure Hawken is NOT running when you do this!

Find your HawkenEngine.ini in your My Documents/My Games/Hawken/HawkenGame/Config folder.

Open it with notepad.

Press CTRL and F and then copy and paste in

ImageGrainNoiseTextureName=

into the search box.

Click Find next.

Delete everything after the =

Save the file, and then go enjoy Hawken without any film grain.

I don't believe there's ever been a toggle switch for film grain.

No, but imagegrain could be unrestricted from the console again.

From a development perspective, it's easier to prevent exploits by disabling all console commands, rather than creating a whitelist for "benign" console commands and enabling those. Adding a menu toggle for controls such as film grain would be simpler and more controllable by the developers in the long run, as they simply have to add a toggle switch for new codes as they come.

Except that stat fps still works (but not stat game or any of the other sections of stat) in the current client, while seemingly none of the others are (and console feedback, like 'incorrect command', is suppressed mostly).

A graphics menu option would be better, yes.

For me i was all excited that i get to play this great game especially after all the videos i saw.

Log in get weird resolution etc. i was like wtf_ No biggie its normal to have to change my settings. I did. but they never saved....annoying but eh its a beta.

get into match. its all grainy and very little color. i was completely confused i thought something was wrong with my game. Since all the videos i have seen did not have this black and white feel to it. (grain affect) So i went searching as to a fix for this grainy/blur/white-black and find it out to be a "feature"...

Why would u make the game look worst even on all ultra settings_

To me the grain effect takes away from the game especially when compared to videos of the game with the grain off. I do not want to play this game now. It has ruined my experience.

I enjoy the game play, the mechs, the maps and modes. The game feels good. but visually hurting.

Please think about it.

I think the digital noise looks great. If Adhesive do plan on addressing this, I hope they implement a toggle and don't remove it all together.

i agree with
Conquistador completly ..its a nice effect if your filming ..but for game play it need to be turn-off-able:)
