#5 has been rampant as of late.

If Americans truly believe in their constitution; it would be safe to assume it would apply to all people regardless of race, color, creed or country of origin.
It is a document designed for all people. Nothing is more important than that.

Moderators are kinda like Grammar NAZ1's. They regulate the community as they see fit.

They choose to correct/delete a post or let it go.
As of late they appear to be doing nothing. This must change!
How they handle complaints of select individuals; determines whether or not a toxic environment is created or a thought provoking safe environment is created.

It's safe to say at least for the moment... Moderator have dropped the ball and this needs to be fixed pronto!

Player reports need to be addressed in a timely and appropriate manner; and the cancers of this community need to be unseated from power and removed.
I have had several accounts with an individual in this community, as have others, who takes great pleasure in threadkilling and being a cyberbully.
I and others have reported them and yet they remain.

This is an example of an "alpha" that has stayed far too long and is poisoning the community by living on the edge of the "rules". Harassing and attacking posters for their personal entertainment and enjoyment.

Harassment is exactly that, harassment; no matter how logical the argument/comment/statement is.
It is the persistent targeting leading to page after page of "discussion" of one post/comment/idea/etc. that is harassment.

This is what must be stopped. Everyone knows who they are...
Dev's and Moderators... PLEASE DEAL WITH THEM!

Nobody has issues with pushing boundaries and disagreeing with others.
We have issues with flagrant disregard for others feelings.
Human decency must be restored.

Forum drama = fun

Forums are kind of ok, it's just that there's nothing going on in Hawken so a lack of things to talk about.  It's a bit abrasive but I find it mostly sarcastic.  I draw the line at threats, racial stuff etc, that is not cool.  And being mean isn't that great either.

Yeah no... public naming and shaming is a terrible idea and ALWAYS HAS BEEN. Callouts is emotional outrage inducing with no positive results. This is how trolls are born.

The idea of shaming the person who made a false report is faulty too. They could be right about who they're reporting, but just not have strong enough video evidence to convince an admin. Turning on them and pointing fingers won't make any situation better. If anything it would shame people into giving up on trying to make reports altogether, including those who have stronger evidence.

Nothing is happening.. It's boring. Nothings been happening for a while too. I think we've run out of things to talk about as far as hawken goes. We've complained all that there is to complain.

Because this is the sort of community the moderation of these forums has cultivated over the space of years.

This isn't new.
This is status quo.

It wasn't so bad back when Hugs was still the community manager. She was extremely vigilant. During that time I got warnings for infractions as minor as calling someone a "fool" and replying "bump" to a thread about forum etiquette.

But then moderation was largely handed over to a 3rd party service, and the largely ineffective Mods 1, 2, 3 took over. Around that time Hugs was also laid off, and Scapes took over.

A major problem was that the 3rd party mods enforced rules in what appeared to be an entirely arbitrary manner, with people in the same thread breaking the same rules, yet only one person would get in trouble. And often they'd enforce rules far too late to be effective. As things started to get out of hand they'd say "Don't break the rules guys. Keep it civil." and then everybody would ignore them because the chances of actually getting in trouble were extremely low. Most of the time, the flame wars would burn themselves out before the mods ever moved to take action.

The only effective moderation during that time really came from Scapes, but he was also busy with other duties.

These days, that 3rd party moderation team is gone... and to be honest, the quality of moderation hasn't changed, neither better nor worse, since they've left.

ZC does what he can as community manager, but he's got a lot on his plate. Even more than Scapes did due to Meteor layoffs. Last I talked to him about it, he was trying to do 3 peoples jobs at once. I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed his moderation, but I at least try to understand the pressure he must be under and respect that these days.
