Anyone who knows how to type should recognize my keys layout.  Basically, I've extended the natural left hand/finger positions of a typist and assigned movement keys to the ASDF and Space Bar.

I think I started using this layout back in the days when the game Decent was popular.  That game had six degrees of movement. Keeping my hands in a natural typing position allowed me to have the maximum reach to all the keys a left handed typist would normally have.

Most players are set in their ways with WASD and cannot transition to my setup, but I do find that there are plenty of good/better players then me so I am actually interested in what other player's keyboard and mouse setup are.

As far has buying a new keyboard, unless you have money to burn, I would wait till the old one broke before buying a new one.

Actually... I've noticed that when I'm at work, reading email and what not, my fingers now rest on WASD.

Money to burn... hmmmm, good point.

And that mouse, maaaan. That mouse I ran throughout the first decade of this millenium.
I found it in a box in my basement 2 months ago and passed it along to my oldest son as he embarks on his pc gaming journey.
I can only wonder if it will last to his children.

I have daughters.  The eldest is at Penn (yes, it's an Ivy, and yes, this is a brag).  I sent my Intellimouse with her.  The other two have steelseries mice.  All three game.

Corsair K60

- WASD for movement
- F for Weapon Switch
- Shift+Spacebar for boost/dodge
- STRG for Teamspeak push to talk

Logitech G600
A Mouse with 3 main buttons

- G9/G10/G11 for Item 1,2,3
- G12 for Repair
- G13 for Ability
- 1 Mousebutton for Fire
- 2 Mousebutton for Secondary
- 3 Mousebutton for Enemy marking

So, i'am pretty much the heavy "Mouseuser". I like it this way, because i don't want to move my finger away from WASD/Shift/Spacebar.

But to be a good player, you need more than good hardware, nice Input devices + layout or a nice chair feeling comfortable.

The most work is coming from Aiming - Reaction Time - Brain <-> Tactics

Kind Regards,
Galaxy Radio

I don't.  I use a mouse in my right hand and a PS or Xbox controller in my left.  All of my movement, boosting, alt fires, weapon changes and a few others are done with the controller on my left and then I aim, fire, jump, mark enemies, launch specials and activate with a G500 mouse and it's many buttons.  It's super easy to set up, very easy to play and my fingers don't get cramped.

Unbound "shiift+s" for 180 spin.
Have it rebound to a mouse button.

Do you ever accidentally trigger the 180 spin when you don't want to_

Not anymore- that's why I did it.
Use to ALL the time; when you have them down to one shot in a scout and turn your back, it's time for a re-bind.
Had to do the code bind back then, now it works in the GUI.

If the enemy is one shot away and you turn 180...

You turn 180 again and finish off that other mucker. B)

Not in an 'A-Class'... no room for error with no armor.

Any A-class pilot has had that feeling of taking one too many TOWs to the ass.
Spinning around is like bending over and asking for another.

"Or maybe we'll just have to go through you"

I use wasd for regular movement but the whole shift jump doesnt work for me. I use the 1 and 2 buttons on my g600 mouse for jump left and jump right using the logitech software. My wasd is on a G13 game keyboard which i love far superior to the Nostromo in my opinion. The Nostomo is a decent product though. I dont 180 at all as i just seem to get lost and dizzy. Bong hits may be partially to blame.

So you programmed Jump then mid-air Dash left or right and mapped them to your mouse buttons_  I thought up a similar idea but i couldn't get it to work.

Care to explain further_

Lol, I'm too use to defaulting to WASD that I'm not sure if be able to switch things around. That an I'm too lazy to rebind everything... The only things I rebound were switching the hover to shift and the boost modifier to space.

Jump I left alone sorry that was unclear, it was the dash left and dash right I remapped each to it's own button on my mouse but they also function while hovering. The Logitech software that came with the mouse  made the remap simple. You were going  little deeper with your idea and now I am curious so im gonna try and work it out. A quick hover with a dash left or dash right thrown in all with 1 button press, that may be good for a surprise or 2.  I think click mouse wheel left or right would be perfect for that. I'll let you know if I can get it to work.

I use the number pad

8 = forward
7 = left
9 = right
5 = back

I have to thumb buttons on the side of my mouse one is special ability the other is boost doge.

decimal = boost up

enter = repair

/ = item 1

* = item 2

- = item 3

I just found the defalt setup to be all over the key board ... the numeric pad is so much better
