Nice launcher, options dont show up from that "gear" icon. Supposed to do anything yet_ Patch download speed is really slow. Under 100kb/s !!! It takes four hours to download this patch at this speed.


I've been waiting this second beta event like waiting for the moon to rise.

I have fiber optic connection and am supposed to download at 10mb/s, but currently it stays between 50kb/s and 200kb/s

Are there any stuff to tweak for the p2p part of the download system _

ur lucky to get 200.. i get sometimes 50 to 100 and im sitting on fiber for 25 mbs

Could someone who already downloaded it share it to us with a torrent _
It seems that the download system may have serious limitations for users outside USA.

And I'm almost certain that Adhesive/Meteor would not like it if people set up torrents to download the files for Hawken. The beta's going to run for five days.

uh.... you have that wrong I think. You are downloading at 50KB/s not 50kb/s. There is a big difference between 50kilobytes per second and 50kilobits per second. 50kb is 50/8 kilobytes (or 6.25 kilobytes). Dialup is a much slower speed.

Sorry for me being technical on this, but I HATE people that don't realize the difference. a 56k modem was only ever able to download at 7KB/s max, and normally was even much slower and would only download at 2-3KB/s on a good day, so you are still over 100 times faster then dialup. It bugs me because I was stuck on dialup for a very long time, and people undermining how slow it was really urks me. T_T and I have no reason why.

Actually, it'd be pointless since the launcher does both an HTML and a P2P connection (like a torrent), so it'd just make things even more slow.

If there is really a P2P system in the launcher, it's not working well at all. For most of the torrents i usually download between 8MB/s and 1MB/s.
At 100KB/s i doubt that my launcher is connected to any peer, and seeing the messages in this thread i am obviously not the only one currently downloading.
Using WIndows resource monitor, i see that the launcher has 0 upload speed, and is only connected to one IP.
I even put my computer in DMZ (meaning that all ports are exposed, just like there was no router) to be sure nothing could prevent the p2p to work efficiently.

So it seems that there is probably something broken on hawken side.

50kb_ lucky basterd im at 20kb average speed gonna take me between 8-12h to download it. and i have 100mb line but its not showing much of its power. and yeah i dont think the P2P is working and the option is not comming up to tell me if there is any option for P2P any way.

I was able to get a constant 2MB/s download speed and that is about the max my line can go. Of course I am in Seattle and so is Adhesive, so maybe that has something to do with it... I'm not sure where their servers are located.

finally DLing over a 100 Kbs sometimes. hope it will get faster as we go now

the Hawken servers are located in the eastern US
