Another great idea :).
But I wouldn't like to play completely all the time in dark/night, rather to have only a few very dark (but key) places on map, where the use of thermal optics would be vital, like some underground bunkers with one or two goals to achieve. Playing partially in bright area, partially in dark, where some mechs can utilize their advantages (cloaking) more than others.

Great idea. There also should be a cheap, 1-slot passive item or internal called 'Reflector', which is... Well, a reflector, something like a flashlight.

How do you like it_

Well, I like this idea.
Why we wont get a 1 slot flashlight-  and a 2 slot night-vision-internal.
If this kind of gamemode ever gets implemented.

Lightning can easily create a dramatic environment - they've done well with well-lit scenarios, I'd love to see a dawn/dusk version and a night version of the maps.

Dynamic lightning can also work wonders for gameplay. I still remember playing the original Doom - walking into a room and the lights go out *completely*...then you hear the demons and are forced to flee clumsily by the sporadic light of your muzzle flashes. Epic.

Anyone for some night time battles on a map named "Shipyard"_

A short story of mine to go alongside it to capture the mood.

My once naval town has become a place of destruction and chaos. The smouldering husk of my best friend "Raider" lies against a crane, ceasing it into place. Through my smart system targeting It confirms Raider is no longer active. All systems and subsystems inside have failed. It's difficult to distinguish from this distance if the greasy liquid depositing from the rear of the blast hole behind the cockpit is that of high pressure pneumatic fluid or blood. Regardless, I must fight on to secure my stronghold in my hometown. The rust on my joins date me old and frail. Night combat + smoke grandees = close combat.

Sounds cool. Just add thermal vision.

+1 to thermal vision, but make it use fuel, though very slowly... (and of course give us more fuel on that map)

Well watching the Trailer shows that there are different times of day to play in but, there is only one shot of a sniper on a building in a low light setting possible dusk or dawn.  I'm wondering how people would feel about night combat or if it could be confirmed_

Personally the thought of night combat in those environments gives me the chills just think about it your visibility would be lower making escaping easier, guerrilla warfare tactics anyone_ Bullets and rockets would stand out against darkened environments and, it would be easier to spot muzzle flare from long range snipers and firefights.

Think about that new dynamic to the game play give the predators thermal vision and booster and repair flashes, and would emphasize radar use
It would also give a new dynamic to the maps themselves. eg. streetlights in uptown, prosk, and frontline, building lights in the facility and Origin, brilliant moon light in lost eco, bizaar, bunker, and wreckage!

Night battles:

I want to see the mechs light up with lights and or marker lights.
The ability to toggle them on or off.
You could use a "mech sized flashbang" to dazzle the enemy.
Flares to illuminate points/objectives.
Lightning flashes illuminating silouettes of the mechs {great for videos}

Day:

Dynamic fog restricting visibility to mere meters.
Wind that increases inaccuracy.
Rain that drives restricting visibility as it increases and decreases as it lessens up.
Clouds of smoke on the war torn battlefield for ambiance.

This thread has been running for months and its obvious a portion of the players want it. But nothing from Meteor I would have thought it would have been an easy tweak that would have introduced some real new interest and that's what's needed at the moment the game is getting stale.

On maps like Front Line, Prosk and Facility, there could be streetlights and/or floodlights providing light to a certain area. But since they're destructible, you could shoot/crush them to change the lighting. Also, jump-pads could give off a glow, lighting the area around them.

This has been suggested since open beta... I'd like to see siege and missile start at dusk then go full dark
