Interact not working when bound to Period

I use a Dvorak keyboard layout, so I have been rebinding most keys. I bound Interact to period '.' (where the 'e' is in QWERTY), but found during a game of Siege that I couldn't deliver any EU. The hint box was telling me to press Period to deliver it, but nothing was happening.
