you guys take MMR really seriously...
It functions nearly identically to Elo in chess, and also Quake Live's system of Elo. I find it -- more or less -- to be pretty indicitave of a player's skill level. Of course, this varies; you can be in a funk, and lose matches you'd normally stomp, and go down 200ish MMR or something. Seriously, just like Elo in chess, it's all the same. And also, since the player base is so scarce, once you get over 2400ish, I don't think the rating represents you as well.
All there is to it is that it'd be more accurate if there were more players. Same problem in QL. This would fill in the gaps of the top 10% or so (really just making up numbers here) holding the MMR ratings for a span of 400-500 (2400-2900? guessing again). You know it's bad when I can hit 2100-2200 (#180ish in the continent of North America? c'mon, that can't be right! -- I'm not good enough for that!) in just 105 hours of game time... the main problem is lack of players in Hawken.
We just need a wider player base. Because once you hit 2000+ish, it's hard to find games. I imagine it's much harder once you hit 2400+. I made my first smurf today. Kinda early for that.
So, uh, stream more Hawken if you can! I'm streaming quite often, though I don't know if it encourages any new players... We need to make this game blow up!
