I kinda wish there was public match history so we could figure out if the vocal anti-smurf people are actually playing with smurfs every game or if they just assume everyone doing well is a top 100 player who gets off on pubstomping.

 

Who knows.  Maybe smurfs really are driving new players nuts.. and away from Hawken, maybe it's all made up.  Whatever is going on, there are ~200 people actually in a server right now and that's just no good.  Game needs more people and needs to stop driving them away or out of the core game modes.

The topic of smurfing is to Hawken what (illegal) immigration is to a first world country.

1. It's a passionate topic and there's often little middle-ground between the two opposing viewpoints
2. It's often a scapegoat for unrelated issues, or it is assigned disproportionate blame for other issues
3. It doesn't happen as often as you'd imagine
4. Those who do it aren't the malevolent / ignorant / selfish caricatures they're often made out to be
5. When it does happen, the effects on a community aren't as negative as many presume
6. A reactive community will often demand increasingly resource-intensive measures to address the disproportionately smaller issue
7. People tend to not give a fuzzy bunny about the topic when times are good. Conversely, people tend to become more passionate about the topic when times are bad.

Seriously. If this game's popularity ever noticeably increases, the smurf rage will begin to cool. You just watch.

honestly i didn't have problem with smurfer..
fight a smurfer and pro player is same for me..
the problem is when i've met a smurfer who acted as a troll guy.

He wants to play with rookies, but when he had rookie teammates , he will start complaining.. Like "noob team", "stupid team", "weak team"
that's making new player didn't enjoy the game (not because of fighting a good enemy)

Thanks to the developers who provide "coop bot game modes"
i've enjoy playing in there, no complain from other players, just between me and bot..
