If you don’t know how to check your MMR, add “Scrimbot” to your in-game friend list, and then send it “mmr”

 

 

Could you please get it for me? Not having all of the stats for each person kinda throws stuff off, so I can't use what you posted without an MMR to go along with it.

There are lots of options that I feel relatively indifferent about, so I picked none or picked multiple ones that I find equally desirable.

Additionally, for this sort of tally, I think you should instruct that people pick whichever one(s) they are comfortable with, I doubt most people have such strong feelings that they can't decide that some options are equally desirable.

Off-topic : nice thread but we have to keep in mind that the actual player population is ~350 and gather ~30 answers means that it only represents less than 10% of the population of player.

Nerfing won't help. With custom servers like DerMax suggested or some voting function before match start or some balance forcer function (not one-sided tech-play) everything can be fine. Also tech is more problematic with the inc but this is especially a matter for the heat thingie of the inc which needs some rework.

I could imagine even a little internal for reducing it even more but it needs to be shortened for sure! On the other hand I see the brutal scouts again on the battlefield hunting every lower skilled player down. Imho this is the most important aspect of all changes that are overdue. It will change the feeling for the game more then any other buff or nerf or rework.

Bunker for sure. For Last Eco I have no concrete idea how or what needs to change but this map doesn't feel good designed. Bazaar has problems but sometimes on the other hand it's nice. Uptown is problematic but also the only map with that hot spots so I would like to just keep it as it is for the sake of variety.

I suppose I'm happy with dodge times, Adjustable dodge distances would be cool,  longer distances to avoid

fire, shorter might make it easier to keep enemy in crosshairs while dodging.

This mech SHOULD be badass, but it's all about Heat management. I would't handicap the mech, but perhaps the 

primary gun with the SLOWEST heat buildup.... perhaps either add a BIT more heat to it's buildup, OR perhaps a 

slight, tiny additional delay in the secondary grenade discharge time. 

 

 

Technician should stay as is: X

 

 

Items and Internals

seems OK, unless there is a time limit on the duration. Keep it up & scanning. enemies can always drop a scrambler.

EMP charge shut down should be 1 extra second. 

 

My only additional item comment was, the force field wall seems to evaporate, or run out too soon.  as this is useful, but limited in it's application, it should last longer.  When deploying the wall, you not only have to be concerned about placement, but also timing it exactly right.  Since the wall is so easily jumped, or shot out, it would be nice to just focus on placement, in order to get a bit more strategic use out of it. 

 

I still don't understand Composite Armor:  "On death, recieve a 15% damage reducion..."   My Death?  When I kill an enemy mech?  Then is the effect deactivated after I kill my next mech?  Description needs to be more precise.

I think perhaps shortening the delay for lighter mechs.  Heavys comp with heavy armor, have bigger weapons, so a normal delay is appropriate. Light mechs should have slightly shorter delay, due to weak armor, as much as I hate to say it with those killer Scouts buzzing about!

I have no problem with the maps in general,  they are beautiful, well thought out, strategic.  A few nit picks: 

1: they are almost all symmetrical to some degree except for Downtown.  While not bad, a few more Asymmetrical maps would be refreshing, and I think you could even do that with Siege or Rocket attack incorporated into them.  

2: They could use more hiding spots, more cover, more nooks and crannies to enhance stealth players.  Obstacles, to visually impair a mech really enhances the game feel, and makes interacting WITH the map, instead of just blazing through it important.  

3: Perhaps add weather.  One of the most stunning, gorgeous levels I've played was UT3 vehicke CTF.  This level, was in a desert, and  you had SANDSTORMS to deal with,  momentary loss of visual sight. What a BLAST!! Perhaps rain,  or fog would enhance the map,  keeping them random. 

4:  The BLUE FORCE FIELD .... is this NECESSARY?  On map edges, I get it. But around buildings INSIDE the map? It takes away sniping perches, rooftop combat... I just feel those force field walls take away some of the fun and realism that could be had. that's all!

My only  other nit-pick is, I don't like how enemy mechs are ALWAYS lit up red in the HUD.... I kinda get it, but what's the point of camoflauge?  And where is the reliance on visuals?   Of course in most circumstances it should be lit,  but when you're playing a game type where you have to look for the mechs,  it would add to suspense if the red HUD were not visible under some conditions,  perhaps if the enemy mech was only walking slow.  Or,  even offer an INTERNAL item, to suppress HUD visibility while walking & NOT shooting or boosting.   Adding a bit of suspense and tension to the game would enhance it,  I think.

Uptown needs a rework/revision: (Like prosk and Origin, I really like them as they currently are but revisions always gives a "new interest")

I can't stress this enough, NIGHT variations would really feel like we'd have more maps options
(or at least make one map to test out how the community feels about it and how the lighting goes well or bad with "'fog lights"Adjustable lumens / "Night vision" "Infrared or "Let your eyes adapt") I feel even with revisions of the maps for short term change but working on something that will bring a whole new experience to the game might be a better plan.

 

Variations would probably help a lot with the immersion.

Doesn't matter if you care or not. This is about data, and MMR is a very relevant part of that data. It's shows who (not identity as an individual, but the demographic) this data is coming from, and without it that context all the other data is kind of useless.

Off-topic : nice thread but we have to keep in mind that the actual player population is ~350 and gather ~30 answers means that it only represents less than 10% of the population of player.

Well, that's pretty much statistics in general. This is by no means perfect, but from the data I have so far, the forum community seems to be represented pretty well. At the very least, it definitely doesn't heavily skew toward the wants of the 2600+ MMR circlejerk club (which admittedly I'm often a part of). It'd also be logistically impossible for me to manually deal with a lot more information than I have now. Maybe if I had a script to do it for me, but otherwise no. This is what the spreadsheet looked like with 37 people:

Each cell has the format of region, MMR, average ping, and respondent number. The color coding is for MMR ranges.

 

Also, the playerbase is larger than 350 by a good bit; that was just the figure for the average number of people simultaneously playing at once. Not even close to all of them use the forums. 

 

Oh, and I have 42 now, so I don't need more submissions. I'll enter in all of the ones I got overnight and earlier today, but nothing from after this point will be included.

For anyone who knows statistics better than I do, what would I use to calculate a correlation coefficient for a certain MMR range and a certain viewpoint? E.g. 1600-2000 for the MMR range and "Air Compressor should be universal" or 2000-2400 and "Incinerator is too strong." I've only ever used r, which doesn't work here.

Doesn't matter if you care or not. This is about data, and MMR is a very relevant part of that data. It's shows who (not identity as an individual, but the demographic) this data is coming from, and without it that context all the other data is kind of useless.

Never knew what it was, never cared, never will.
When MMR became known the community took a nosedive into epeen contests, people started playing peekaboo and sacrificing their teammates because they were too afraid to lose their precious MMR.
It is the root of much evil in the community.
