Haven't actually read much of this thread.  That said, I think that switching the Fred and the Assault is a great idea because it preempts any kind of "but they have a better mech" argument.  Doesn't solve some of the vertical progression issues, but it's a solid start.

Could make the Fred parts a skin only. Yeah it hurts, but the stat changes are kind of dumb at the moment.

If that's the case everybody needs to be refunded 3500 HC.

This is a signature, revel in its glory.

I think that providing the Recruit to the new player plus a full loadout in between defensive and offensive would suffice to break the initial disadvantage new players may feel at playing the game for their first time.

At least, I honestly think that by implementing this, it could reduce the impact of a negative impression by new players feeling inferior above higher players and better equipments or gear.

CRT and the Assault are way to close to the same thing in my opinion.  Having both in the game really dosn't make any sense, yes CRT has tweaks that make it easier to use on paper but those people just starting out are just learning the basic mechanics of the game so its really a moot point.

CRT also looks stupid and is a turn off to new players, which is bad.  And honestly I don't think the design looks right at all when you compare it to the rest of mechs, it ruins the aethstetic of the game in my opinion.

I would suggest dropping CRT.  And give players a choice of 3 three different mechs from each class (along with item loadouts) to start with that would be good for beginners, perhaps Assault, Berserker, and maybe the Rockekteer?

From a business standpoint would it not be better to define what kind of game Hawken WILL be and build from there.

Death match is good as is.

Siege and missle need some work.

Team death match is problematic.

Not bothering to be specific with what's wrong, that's all over this forum.

I understand the CRT looking like a piece of turd as a sort of "put together rust-bucket", but it -is- quite offputting for a start so I kinda agree with the change to Assault

Please give me the option to get a MC refund on my cosmetic parts because I made some decisions that I am no longer happy about. Also please round everythings MC price so it ends in a zero. Maybe also make things cheaper in HC.

CRT should remain the entry level mech,

you get enough free HC at the start to nearly fully mod a mech to make it competative imo,

As a vet I have been saying for along time give the new players more of a fighting chance giving them a fully loaded mech is a great idea ... it gives them somthing to play with and also gets them use to what inturnals thay like. As for the crt  I alsways hated it. fred plays like a  weaker assult in my oppinion. My segestion for fred is give him a new ablity and new weapons do not just scrap him he is allready there just mak some moderate changes that makes him  his own thing.... That is my oppinion anyway.

I would agree with this with a stipulation it will sound harsh but I have a reason.  Give them A choice of getting any mech in the game after they play a aloted amount of games in a test drive when they  get the time and experance   covered the mech is free and all experance is transfured to this mech.

I do not want alot of people choosing a mech and hating it just to leave the game .... if they teast drive it enough to get the xp to open the mech  chances are they like it enough to play it . This would stop new players from buying mechs like the pred right off and wasting their  one time get a free mech bounus.   I am not saying a rediculas amout of time like the grind for a new mech but enough to where it is not a impulse buy that they do not regret.

i think the best option to get new players to grasp hawken is to rework the tutorial in a path that emphasis internals and movement through repetition and  thorough explanation on internals. as people have said in past, internal test rotation is a brilliant idia. but also it would be cool have hints and tips section written by players so that they are given decent advice. i am one of the people that took to this game almost at instinctual level of comprehension. that is not to say i am any good, because i am not, but my early game experience is skewed and i have a hard time relating to the "noob experience". i have been playing since closed alpha when everyone was bad, but i was hooked from day one so i am a poor example.

I Started Hawken last week because my good friend that you may know as mac n steez or meatmissle suggested it to me. I actually did start with the assault as my first mech and it had full internals and items and i think it may be because of this post so that you m8.

I do appreciate the art, but I don't have time to find anything good. /h/
