Agree hitreg sucks.

 

Use a det, too.  That usually fixes it.

Okay that looks a bit iffy. It is a bit on libra which one was going on. Cheating or really bad bug. [Also can be that it was really great lag]

I have a metric 'lot' of these types of clips. I'll make a sadfunny montage of it eventually, but it's not priority for obvious reasons (does anyone even want to see that really).
I also can't commit to working on it until I find the name to that elusive song that's always used for montages- a symphony style, no words, where it gets crazier and crazier and faster and faster...anyone IM me if you think you know it.

Stopping frames clearly shows the bloom on the target, and successive frames do not show the heatspot on the ramp wall if it did indeed go downstairs.  I'm going with he hit his target with the TOW.

Eh...what?

It's all slowed down and very clear. I mean, conscious compensation for lag or lucky bad aim synchronizing with lag aside, that Flak burst is shown hitting the target, which probably should have been a kill; then the target gets blatantly pegged by a TOW which should've put the target near -150 health.

Dude should obviously be ded af.

the flak was lost, but the tow hit that dammit. Its happen sometimes even with the ping near 20/30. And the tow had hit the wall, I would have lost health

 

yesterday i shot with tow in front of a predator and the same happened  :wacko:

 

 

as you can see in the comments with other, I'm not complaining, just I wanted to show what strange and funny things happen, not with me, lol

Even if the tow was a partial hit at best...that Scout was lucky to have 10 health left, could have knocked it over with bad breath.

Actually, I don't believe it is here. It could be an odd-looking lag/ping spike, but it's doubtful as all mechs involved appear to be moving smoothly according to their actual/realistic position.

This is what most would consider an issue with hit registration- the lack there of. From what I understand, this is related to packets of information being lost to the server (the server never got the message that the TOW hit that spot).

Honestly I'm not confident I understand what's actually causing this sort of thing; I would really like to learn more about ping, packet loss, tick rate, and general server-client communication with regards to video-games.

I want to know exactly what aspect of technology to cuss at when this fuzz happens.

you lagged and you wont see a heat spot down range anyway because you already saw the rocket expode localy

The servers suck canal water. It happens to me every single day. I shot a infil last night with EIGHT heat and 5 grenades from behind while he was fighting a mech from the front who was hitting him. My ping was low 30's and so was his. So only thing left is crap hitscan on server. :wallbash:

This is EXACTLY the point.  The client says 'hit'.  The server doesn't realize/know it.  I call it 'hit misregistration'.

 

It seems to happen a lot with Scout, though not so much with Sustain weapons.  I think it never happens with T32 - anyone have any experience (I don't use T32, I just never seem to survive G2R encounters even when the server is jumpy/laggy as all get out)?

I just never seem to survive G2R encounters even when the server is jumpy/laggy as all get out

 

I think this has more to do with the type of person who plays turkey than the weapon itself.

 

As for OP, I bet if you took your ping value at that time and measured how far the scout would move in that time it would put him just far enough away from that TOW to take 39.72 damage and survive with a sliver of HP. That or hit markers are client side.
