How is it??
Pretty fuzzy bunnyng peaty.
I like it because along with all that swampy smokiness there's a whole whack of oak and burnt vanilla that is right up my alley.
This straddles our tastes pretty evenly, I'd say.

The Laphroaig 10 was near the bottom of my list of Islays the last time I tried it. I'll check it out, but it may take some time. I've had to cut back on account of waking up at 5:30 in the morning all the time.

I have to wait until end of the month, but I will be drinking some of Japan's finest whiskeys (in Kawasaki City).
I have to wait until Christmas for the next whisky/Scotch after that.
In other news, my foot is very nearly 'back' and I've lost 44 lbs since 23 Jan. Oddly enough, my last Scotch was 22 Jan...

I'd need to cut beer and exercise to manage that.

...still not useful to me.
I was hoping to get a squash team or something exciting together at work, but they decided on hoopball.
Which is basketball, without teeth.

You could try climbing things.

If you mean mountains or hills, I absolutely agree with you.
But there is a shortage of those things near me and indoor climbing is boring.
I suffice at walking the last 3k home.

If you're working out while at the gym I don't think thats true.
Come on Crafty, you have been officially called out on your lies. Your online reputation is at stake here, this is just like an old school street race running for pink slips. Its run what you brung and hope its enough. Put up or shut the fuzzy bunny up.
If you're working out while at the gym I don't think thats true.
I burn about 1110 cal/hour at the gym. I typically don't go a full hour at that rate while not training for racing, only about 32 min, for ~560 cal/day.
Walking at 4.5mi/hour at my weight would burn about 272cal for 30 min.

You'd like the MIyagikyo single malt, Tickle. Peaty.
I REALLY like the Coffey-still grain, makes me wish I'd bought the Coffey all-malt too.

I haven't had much opportunity to imbibe in quite the quantities I'd like to as of late - lots of long, early days - but I'm compiling a list.
Laphroaig Cairdeas
Oh yes.
Oh, so yes.
Currently making my way through the stuff that was bottled in 2014. At first it was really strong, but I got used to it and now it's everything I want in a scotch. It's like a Lagavulin 16 but with only a minimal amount of the honey flavor, and a much larger acetone presence. I assume it's peaty, but since I usually only drink Islay, it's sort of hard to tell. Since I like it, I assume it's quite.
I had a brand called "Jura" a while back. It was engaging, but fairly mild. I'd recommend it to all you non-Islay pansies.
On the subject of physical well being, about 2 months ago, I tore two ligaments on the outside of my left ankle and pulled the third, as well as injured my Achilles' quite badly. Today was the first day I was able to run. I'm sitting at a firm 200. Started my day with 250 leg lifts in a row. Suck it.
I miss Amid.

My last encounter with Scotch was a bottle from Glenturret a family member brought me straight from the distillery after a trip abroad. It was a VERY limited edition hand bottled from the cask that was selected for the Earl & Countess of Strathern (AKA Prince William & Princess Catherine) when they visited Scotland.
The Earl & Countess got their bottles and then the rest of the cask (300 bottles total) was offered for the public. That stuff was DELICIOUS.

I haven't had any as good as the NIkka recently.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but isn't this kind of thread somewhat against the rules?
I mean we are on a game forum for a game that is rated what, 13 or something like that, and, clearly, Scotch is not rated teen.
Threads like that are one of the reasons I don't let my son participate in online forums (household rules) and advertising alcoholism is not fun at all.
If we allow topics like this, next thing we see is people discussing hard drugs like Marijuana or posting porn.

You seem to be the only one complaining. I just read the rules in their entirety and found nothing about threads about scotch being against the rules. Alcohol is not an illegal drug.

I'd suggest trying some Talisker, if you haven't already. A bottle of the 10yr old won't set you back too much.
I've always been more of a beer drinker than scotch or even whiskey in general, however I have had the opportunity to taste some solid bottles lately. I tried the Macallans 12 and 15, and the Balvanie 12 (I liked the Balvanie best, though the Macallan 15 was very nice). A fantastic bottle on the cheaper side ($46 around me) was the Johnnie Walker Rye Cask Finish. Easily my favorite around that price range.
On another note, February is bourbon month at one of my local haunts so I should be tasting some good bourbons soon as well.

At $46 you should try to source something from Bowmore.
I'll keep an eye out

Yeah, it's in the freezer. It's pretty bland, but fairly cheap and an acceptable entry-level, I guess.
It's in my freezer because its flavour profile is nothing special and the smoothness is improved by the temperature.
I should probably post more of the good stuff, but the only things left are either in another city or at my cuddlebuddy's.
