Or just have servers in more regions so people don't need to suffer with high ping, and have specific servers dedicated to newbs....

Much less of a draw on dev time my idea is!

You also don't get weird subjective gameplay going on. Everybody plays the same game, and doesn't get used to certain issues that crop up when played with all the major mechanics slightly altered.

And my God, can you image trying to basically re-balance 2 (or more) versions of the game every time you wanted to change a mechanic?

Its good to see Hawken alive and well, and a lot of old players I recognize are back with it!

 

This is definetely an interesting and important topic, I'll weigh in but try to keep it on topic and concise.  There is a lot of talk of secondary fire rate being a bit spammy and ttk being short.  Between increasing cd's on secondaries and increasing armor, I'm much in favor of increasing cd's on secondaries.  I don't like secondary fire being spammy, tactless, and very unpunishable, and increasing armor will not change any of this.  I think higher armor values would also push the meta further towards dps and away from burst. Ultimately I like secondary weapons should have longer cd's (somewhere between where they are now and what they were way back when) but the same dps as they have now, in addition to a slight increase in armor.  With cd's longer but dps the same the ttk would only be increased a little bit by the small armor increase.  Hopefully the result would be slightly longer ttk with secondary fire being less spammy and more tactful.

 

Also I know this is pretty unrelated but can we change item usage in some way?  I've always hated change to the charges per life item mechanics, it just makes me feel like I'm being punished for not dying.

I kind of miss the times when one was really afraid of getting hit by a tow. Generally speaking, I also find suggestions to game balance kind of pointless when game mode is not defined. I'm not a very competive player and as such I like team-based modes over DM. But stating that "brawler is op", etc. is kind of vague if there is no specification of of enviroment, e.g. someone watching your back. Just a thought.
