Through a reading perspective, it will. I have a buddy who plays SS effectively, he's very very fast...,and just ridicuously good with it... kicking my butt when I play against him as a Bruiser.

Yes, good Sharpshooters are rare (I have yet to come across one), but when you find one..... it doesn't end well ;)

Thanks for the advice guys, ill go try and learn my SS now. Question - when forced to CQB, go unscoped right_ just a matter of learning to compensate for the sabot lag_

If your fighting a C or B mech you can go unscoped cause the spread is so minimal now. But A mechs you should seriously scope every sabot shot.

Finally went back to my SS after a extended break, finding it significantly better post patch. I recommend giving it another shot if you didn't like it before.

It is still one of the more difficult mechs to use well though, which is nice.

Slug still superior_ I have seen no reason to even try the new Hawkins yet.

I was considering trying out the new Hawkins. Most likely it is the (very arguably) better option for CQC, but a worse long range option in general.

This has been insanely helpful since i just got my SS and am still adapting my play style, completely different from the Bruiser (which i still love).

I still love the Hawkins.  I actually tried AM-SAR on the SS but hated it, went straight back to Hawkins after my first game.  Went something like 18-0 so the Hawkins definitely isn't bad. ;)

Number 1 pro tip with a SS is: to maximize your burst damage fire both the slug and sabot at the exact same time by clicking the left and right mouse buttons together.
Sharpshooter lvl 25, Berserker lvl 25, Scout lvl 25, Bruiser lvl 25, CRT lvl 25, Brawler lvl 25, Infiltrator lvl 25, Reaper lvl 25, Rocketeer lvl 25, Raider lvl 25, Technician lvl 25, Grenadier lvl 25, Assault lvl 25

Good luck and have fun see you on the Battlefields!

Interesting, how has the Hawkins been performing since the reaper patch_

Can't say I've noticed a difference to be honest.  I think they said they made it slightly more powerful and slightly less accurate but it feels basically the same.  Still great at midrange.  I feel the experimental "accurate" reticle actually helps a lot when aiming while moving with the Hawkins.

Ill probably try it out today, then, see if I notice a difference. :D

Great advice,  Learned a lot the hardway, would strongly recommend a beserker for cqc traing with your SS.    Once you learn the dance the rest falls into place, I'm a fps virgin, still learning to dance, this may not appy to you, see you in my sights.

Hmm... I never updated this after the Reaper update, I probably should. :P

edit: it is done. Updated to reflect changes by the Reaper update (not the Raider update since there were no direct SS changes :P).

Some ideas I would like to share:
1. Double fire should become second nature, it maximizes damage output and frees the mind from thinking which gun should be used now. When sabot is ready, zoom in and double fire.
2. Do not jump when in combat. Ever. Use boosters only to relocate or reach higher ground.
Not sure whether it was mentioned:
3. When facing good SS, take a shot and relocate right away. He'll be waiting for you to come around that corner, the idea is to come around completely different corner and catch him off guard. SS duels like this are the most entertaining IMO. It becomes flanking and guessing competition.
4. When in tight space against SS, use hologram to make him waste his sabot shot. Place it next to you so when he comes out first thing he sees are two SS, 50/50 he'll waste his shot on the wrong one...

Thoughts, opinions_
