I don't like a ban idea.
Just  someone looses internet connection often (WiFi or other issues) or HAWKEN will crash and you're busted.

I think that loiwering some EXP or other points will be good in this case.

No.  Banning or otherwise punishing players who disconnect can never work.  If you're laggy that day, would you want to be banned for three days_ No_ Oh, right, when something doesn't affect you you don't care, I see.

I'm sorry, but I think it is a stupid idea penalizing people for quitting.  The way they do it now is fine. If you quite before the end of the game, you don't get your XP or HC. Banning people or anything else that drastic, would just make people leave. We can't help or change what happens to us in real life.

Hmm.. from the top of my mind, there's one case in which players should be penalized, IMHO. I'm referring to those players who have been playing a match (or a considerable chunk of it..) and leave it in the last moment when he and/or his team don't win. Besides that case I mention, I think it's hard to punish players for leaving a match due that there're many conditions in which players should not really deserve any penalization.. Or at least would be good idea to take into account players sistematically leaving games during one session in Hawken.

Just my 2 cents.

But arent they penalized_ They wont get the progression, right_ If you are loosing then you prbly dont have that much extra xp/hc for extremely good gameplay. So the most you can get are the few hc for game time. Id rather stay in an lose another minute and at least save thos 87 credits. But i guess that changes if you have your gear together.

But why does it matter_

Just switch and even the teams up.

Besides, if you stay in game and quit, you lose MMR!

And that's the most important number in the game!

Because, some people are leaning towards being control freaks and have to tell you how to play a GAME to feel good... I dunno.. They don't seem to realize that people for the most part play this game on their own terms... not even ADH or meteor can change this because they can't FORCE people to play this game (which is what is being suggested in this thread...).  Just like you can't stop people from camping, running away after the first hit, sitting at base, or insert "Hey!  You're not supposed to play Hawken that way!" complaint in there... they can't stop them from disconnecting either.

I honestly believe that having this penalty is BS. I understand that people quit, but what if it's because they have to do something important that just so happened to introduce itself in the middle of a match_ Also, i don't think players quit as often as you believe. If you're fretting about having one less player, i think you should actually try to ace the match and prove that even with less help, you're still badass. Oh and what you said about having 5v1, yeah that like never happens. Your team may even be down by 2 players and someone from the other team will switch. Be used to having a quitter because it'll happen. Good luck, and HAVE FUN. See you in the battlefield :D (btw i'm pretty sure i make no sense :P)

This isn't 100%, but I left a match mid game due to lag once and upon exiting, I lost about 15 MMR for 6 minutes of game time. Do they consider it a loss as well if you leave after a certain amount of time as well_ I'll have to check.

If you leave the match immediately, you suffer no loses however.

Why dont we take a lesson from League!
If a player leaves a match they dont have an option to join another
They have to either reconnect the the match they just left or wait untill that match is over before joining another game!
It encourages players to stay in the match they started! ^_^

I feel like people will have absolutely no problem dipping from matches and waiting 15 minutes.

Alot of people get raged, and 15 minutes is more than enough time to relax.

This thread has been going on since JANUARY and the community is pretty much perfectly split on the issue.

IMO removing earned currency is completely unacceptable. Imagine a situation where a player buys a x2 credit booster and has some of that credit taken from them. This is akin to than having your XP/HC booster used up during server downtime/patch application time, but i digress.

Limiting future credit/XP earned is of a similar vein if a booster has been purchased.

I think positive reinforcement is the way to go. I think there should be a multiplier applied to your HC/XP when you go a certain number of matches without quitting.

1-4 match without quitting - 100% XP/HC
5-9 matches without quitting - 110% XP/HC
10 matches without quitting - 120% XP/HC

..or something like that.

This has the benefit of both dissuading would-be quitters as well as rewarding players who stick it out until the end, while honoring the purchased boosters.

The cons_ well this doesn't affect said booster purchasers nearly as much but IMO they are supporting the game with their cash so i don't really care. Also: trolls, but you will NOT be able to stop them anyway.

IMO the banhammer should be reserved as a punishment of the utmost severity, for hackers and their ilk, not for some poor sap that gets stuck in 5 one-hour-long siege matches in a row

I guess this would be more for those Siege games a MA games that can last 40+ minutes
