What is the actual effectiveness of the Bruiser's special ability (i.e. How much is reduced from incoming damage)_

They can three shot light mechs. 2 slug one sabot. That requires the SS to have the cool down complete on both weapons at once, and requires a target stupid enough to not get to cover after getting hit with the first combo.

Or unlucky enough. I recall a match where I had just spawned in one of the open areas in Bazaar. No sooner had I taken 2 steps, when I got slammed by said combo. No, there were no other people firing at me, as the SS was the only player listed under the "Killed by" area. Nothing I could have done differently in this situation.

Don't play peek-a-boo. Their splash damage allows them to shoot you "behind walls". Furthermore their splash damage is their biggest weakness try to rush them and give them a hug. Although i never suggest hovering, i find some people rely on the heat splash more than actually aiming at the mech itself it can therefore throw their aim off.

Sometimes there is nothing you can do, the best players will nail you in falling off the origin bridge, from across the map through a small hole. My advice is just to focus on the objective, killing the weaker plays in TDM and always being near your team to run away and heal; capturing 1&3, opposite the action in MA; populating the AA while having weaker team mates make EU runs in siege.

Often the team with one good player doesn't have much cohesion (sometimes they rely on him and get sloppy, sometimes he tries to solo too much and looses focus on the bigger picture), so they will still loose marginally to a coordinated, less skilled team. A team with 2 good players who play off each other is a different beast entirely. My advice is to play conservative and always pressure if you aren't the best player on your team, and play aggressive if you are. If the whole team followed this philosophy you would be surprised what can be done, a rolling 4 player noob ball flanked by 1-2 hunter killers. The ball takes the hits and attention, and the flankers do the most damage - if not with damage, then by making the battle very uncomfortable for the opposing team.

With the recent HF changes, individual skill is mattering less and less when compared with team cohesion. In many ways HWK stealth buffed the newbie end of the player spectrum.

Basically, you can still win by focusing on the 'macro game' while you bring your individual skill and experience up to par to match theirs (1-2 months).

Meanwhile be sure to pay attention to your movement, radar, and effectiveness with the weapons. Those are the three key things for people who have gotten the hang of the basics.

Good post Reach/Hobo-  I too have seen potential in the "noob ball with flanking hunters" setup, it's all a game of momentum and performing the old bait and switch.  Fight on your terms, exploit the over eager nature of a player who thinks they are going in for the kill.  I can't keep track of the amount of times a zealous a -class would chase me round a corner only to find an HE grenade and a tow waiting for them.

ok.

Testing has revealed hologram does not show up on radar.

Items are affected by damage boost abilities.

Max possible alpha strike with SS using the detonator is 639 dmg leaving enough time for 2 more boosted slugs.

Also found that the detonator got a ninja buff its damage is now even with the HE at 175

Charged EOC mines deal 180 dmg.

I think those cover the recent questions.

We should just have all the vets ONLY play in private scrims for a certain amount of time, and leave public play for rookies, then take two seperate sets of data over a period of time for EVERYTHING. Just cuz...

Kinetic damage remains unchanged, 10 per puck over six pucks for sixty impact damage. Explosive damage has risen from 25 per puck to 30 per puck.

Taken together, EOC Repeater now does 240 damage if all six pucks connect on a direct hit.

Yah. EOC has two types of damage, 180 explosive (30 per dart) used on direct hits or mine explosions and direct impact damage of 60 (10 per dart). They look like darts dammit...

Seems they raised the explosive part from 25 to 30, which I am guessing they are trying to compensate for the lack luster mine abilities.

Do all mechs in class burn fuel at the same rate while boosting_ i.e. Does a berserker use the same amount of fuel to get from point a to point b as a scout while under boost_
