A commo rose would be HUGE for this game, I'm so sick of spamming text chat just to get a basic strategy across or being forced to use the god-awful in-game VOIP.

Virtually every element of Hud is different, there is a lack of consistency,

Therefore I like projects @erathic. each element looks like a part of single entity - HUD.

i know that the "menus all over the screen" is somehow part of the "mech" experience and feel, but i find it very obtrusive, to the point that sometimes it can be annoying during fights or and alter the visual experience of the real-time environement and action happening on-screen.I know the game is in beta and hopefully things will change, however here's a little sketch reflecting what i'm expecting for future HUD updates.

Global/ settings :
  • Options (in the settings) to hide/display Killfeed and killmsg (xp gains)
  • PER CLASS HUD, A-B-C class have minor graphical and positions variations
  • Colorblind support (Beefsweat)
In-game behavior :
  • Refine the "Enemy Sighted" marker (updated in the Tech patch!)
  • Split tchat box and Killfeed
  • Most HUD placed in less view-obtrusive positions (corners / over or integrated as cockpit elements)
  • Add little transparency on all HUD elements
  • small Icons to replace "killed by" /suicides text replace it with Mech type ie: SCT
  • Xp gains, etc.. Not in the critical line of sight
  • Enemy spotting outline disappears as soon as the mech doing the spotting breaks line-of-sight. (WarlordZ)
  • spotted enemies wich are out of sight and out of radar displayed on a border line of the radar(updated in the Tech patch!)
  • Out of radar allies displayed on the same radar border line(updated in the Tech patch!)
  • Better minimap (updated in the Tech patch!)
  • Spotted : blink fast  + an " ! " in the center
  • Number of players in each team displayed at the side of the minimap
  • Move some elements to the FULL MAP Interface (so it become for used/tactical)
  • Numbered grid cells on the full map
  • Less intrusive assets rendered on the HUD in Siege and MA modes(The_Silencer)
  • Reinforcing the logics on when harvesting EUs and/or when to defend/dominate structures on the map, via graying out or higlighting the EU display and combining visuals in between HUD and radar in order to highlight actions to follow(The_Silencer)
  • "noisy" wave-sounds and one flashing red circle into an integrated display in the cockpit to handle "incomings" (The_Silencer)
  • Chassis type indicator (for mech recognition) (N0stalgia) (updated in the Tech patch!)
  • Tactical and taunt command roses
Cusomizations : HUD "cosmetics" :
  • PER MECH HUD color choice (cost HC)
  • HUD themes "skins" : Prosk/sentium, etc.. Clans skins maybe _ (Cost MC)
  • Cockpit voices : Male / Female / Robot / Ellen McLain / etc.. (Cost MC)
  • Cockpit decoration: Laila bubblehead or (bikini) photo/  dangling dices/ Sentium energydrink can,etc..
Latest update :Work in progress

^ That is INCREDIBLY fresh, I love it. Reminds me a lot of a jet fighter or helicopter's HUD. I would pay money to have your HUDs and interfaces in hawken.

How do you do it, I'm missing words on the praises of your work.

We need to organize some lobby to squeezing devs to have used this awsome staff !

^^ thanks,
Here's an update, this time using a B-type cockpit :
  • added pilot avatar display in the kill-feed and comm (a feature that will come in time I suppose_), maybe a bit obtrusive or non-relevant to be displayed during gameplay tough, stills fit.
  • Less-cluttered pilot name, mech icon, healthbar
  • Overheating message smaller and less obtrusive
  • dodge fuel display indicator integrated to HUD
  • slimmer hit-by-out-of-sight-enemy indicator
1080p (meh.. forgot to recolor ability icon -_-)  :

That UI style is very hard to read because every element is incredibly small, thin and transparent,
Current components are even smaller.

transparent, and almost totally blends in with the natural colors of the environment with the exception of the red armor meter.
This is the part , to a certain extent, I agree , but it is easy to adapt. Color Saturation slider and transparency.

Thank you for the clarification, but I hope that we agree on the fact that hud requires a lot of work.
All this did was remind me how much I miss the old heat meters

Totally chaothic and unreliable during fights, but wow, to me "This" is the Hawken i'm expecting
but I understand that to appeal  a bigger/younger audience, and maybe reduce the "frustrating debut" clear big bold things and arrows are relevant.

Before going further i'll create a poll including posted ideas and submit them to votes,
to have a better/clearer understanding of things that matter to the community.

During the alphas was the HUD unreadability a major issue_ Did a lot of players complained about it _

In alpha I never had any problems with HUD I loved that so much was part of the cockpit but now everything it being turned into digital floating displays and I really just hate it. But I love hawken good and the bad and will continue to play it. I just really hope it does not get changed to the point where I will want to leave.

Yup, I think some great change are coming to the HUD since it seems they were hiring peoples for shaping it up, I hope they will bring back some more immersive/subtle feel.

If devs do not restore this in version Hawken v1.0 or not do the hud of style @erathic, there is no hope.

I have to disagree personally I do not like a lot of what erathic did (no offence intended its good work) but I like the cockpit displays WAY more than the floating digital displays and I do not think I am alone in this opinion.

What do you mean_ Hawken's current HUD already utilizes the 'physical' cockpit displays and floating digital elements (everything you see that isn't physically attached to the cockpit)

I mean that erathic's design has more floating digital displays than the current interface. I am saying I do not like going in that direction they already removed the cockpit heat bars for digital floating bars in the middle of your screen. I would not like to see more floating displays but less.

I myself would shrink the large circle/crosshair around everything, that would distract me so bad, but other than that its beautiful, i would use it.
