Damn man, got kinda heated there. Maybe you should have a drink, chill out for a minute.

The only style of shooter that Hawken should ever be is an arena style shooter. The game is about robots blowing eachother up, its never going to be as serious as you want it to be.

I like my new HUD - the option to colour it is something I missed from pre-ascension, and the option to change reticles is great.
I'd like to see internals with drawbacks to balance the benefits, like those from pre-ascension (but with slightly better values). Things like "lightweight armour plating" which increases movement speed with a fixed amount, but increases the percentage of damage taken from weapons, or "Improved boosters" which decreases dodge cooldown at the cost of movement speed. I think these sort of internals could add a lot of diversity to the playstyle of the game.

The main thing I did not like from right after the Steam release was the combination of the low health, no penalty dodging, and slow movement speeds. But now that there is a small penalty for dodging again, and you can actually move fast enough to get around without dodging, it is really fun again.
It still needs a few tweaks, like how sustained damage is now better than burst damage in most situations, but I think it is now better than it has been before.

I just rather put some few of those hypothetical resources into solving "The 2 Intrusive Info Bars (2-IIB)" case -you know those couple health and fuel bars..
And don't tell me that replacing these 2 bars via just displaying a couple of numerical boxes on your HUD (as is the special ability or item/s displays..) would consume such an amount of precious gameticks and/or unaffordable resources.
P.S. Nevertheless, my dear Elliot Ness, something says me that we'll have this in 2 months or so..

I like you already.
And I miss Slidermann too, but I think he wound up getting super frustrated by low TTK changes coupled with his connection making games more than a lil unfair. Just guessing really, it's been a while since we spoke. I hope he comes back to correct me or prove me wrong.

linux. bsd. unix. just do it. do it now. you want speed_ stability_ wowser!
the bottom line here, is the bottom line. input from the forums comes from a base consisting of less than 0.8% of the total Hawken player population. money talks. and if what they're doing is beefing up that bottomline, that's prolly what they're mostly listening to.
the "core membership", as in the alpha and beta groups that consistently provided objective input on the game and gameplay to this day, and didn't float with novice or rabid opinion in the forums, and the Cockpit fanclub (although, flame-wars notwithstanding), generally provide a wiser and more thought-out guidance in the game's roadmap.
Hawken wouldn't be here now, if it were any other case.
Just my tuppence.

Hawken mechs sure 'feel like mechs' to me, dunno what your deal is. Now do you see that_ 'Feel' is a very loose, subjective thing and kneejerk reactions a good argument does not make.

If you charge in headfirst and face the entire enemy team alone, then yeah, your mech will fall apart like a dandelion puff in a tornado. But even the hulking tanks that are the Battlemechs in Mechwarrior will do that. The difference is that the mechs in Hawken are maneuverable enough to keep that from happening. It is up to the pilot to take advantage of that fact, though.

I can say I have never really cared in which way Hawken and it's playstyle was going, but I feel the never versions are much smoother, faster and simply more enjoyable.
