Long story short: laser weapon, shooting a laser beam. No building up or charging, just a direct response to a mouse click, exactly like a machine gun. The more heated it gets, the more damage it deals.

I'm attaching a simple visuailsation.

They will already have something like a laser. The repair tool on damage mode will be something like a laser.

Definitely agree, it would make for very interesting tactical decisions.

High risk + high reward mechanics are fun. The more heat = more damage idea is very cool. Reminds me of Rumble, from LoL. ;)

I've considered asking about plasma-based weapons; I'm glad you did. Perhaps the developers feel it would become too much like MechWarrior with lasers_

More creative plasma weapons (such as the MechAssault-style PPC or a flamethrower) would definitely make nice additions imo, especially as optional equipment for lvl 20 mechs (to combat the coveted vulcan.)

To be honest, and I think that most people will agree: I'd rather want more *bang bang* than *pew pew* in Hawken.

I wouldnt mind a lazer like weapon as long as its not similar to the pew pew ownage pee shooters of MWO.

as mentioned previously the idea of a high risk high reward lazer canon could be interesting. I would enjoy it if it was similar to the heat cannon but with more umpf.

This could be an interesting level 20 weapon for Sharpshooter. Especially the higher heat = higher damage mechanic. Anyone else think so_ Edit: Thinking about it, it even comes with a built-in balance, because the laser beam would trace a line back to the Sharpshooter -- the pilot would need to make the decision to either use the Sabot (no trace, hitscan) or the laser (trace, either hitscan or very fast beam projectile).

This sounds great. Combined with the Hawkins (which hopefully gets some attention) this can allow players to play SS as more of a mid-range (and be more reliable in close range) battler. They become less subtle but better at continuous firing/sustained damage.

This is a great idea. Pilots will have to learn their own cooldown, slightly longer than the actual, that allows them to maintain high heat - but not go over. So if you do it properly you are rewarded with high damage, and if you mess up you get overheated. Love it.

I love the idea of high risk = high reward. I think a laser with such a mechanic would be nice. Need skill to use otherwise you overheating very often if good balanced.
