I am preparing to blow the dust of 6 months (whenever the previous forums went dark and I thought Hawken was finished) off my mech hangar and dreading all of the rust scraping I assume will need to be done..

 

So this thread is designed as a support group for all of us old forum-lurking, been-playing-since-open-beta, lovers of the stompy stomp mecha MOAR DAKKA DAKKA! that are ready to take the plunge and get beaten up by all the fuzzy bunnies that kept honing their skills when we lost the faith.

 

We rusty buckets who are about to die (over and over) salute you!

You stopped playing after 6 months?  I stopped playing a year ago.  I know the struggle is all too real.  Then again, I wasn't all that good to begin with, so I don't see much of a loss.  Starting to see the quirks to this game again though.

Hopefully there's still room for us heavily oxidized Alphans that stopped playing around about the time that the Tech update landed.  Christ (and Saturnine) only knows when that was, tho; it feels like back when Pharaohs roamed the Earth (in 30 ton fighting machines). 

 

Oh, and I also qualify for the 'old' part of that title: wrong side of forty but still slapping whippersnappers around like the petulant upstarts they are.  Well, mostly.  (Okay, partly.)

:D I was on the same learning curve this morning. My map awareness was all shot up and so was my zerker! I had also forgotten what most of the buttons were for but that might be down to old age?! Great to be back in the cockpit though.

Coming back to the turn rate cap kinda hurts my brain, but after a few games it usually goes away. lol

I've turned into a baddie after not playing for a year.

Situational awareness and positioning sense has just gone right out the window. 

Hopefully it'll come back in due time.

 

And I'm (not) glad to see Technician is still as cancerous as ever.

The rust is thick being gone for a year but it is like riding a bike for the most part. It all starts to come back after some practice.

Fellow ruster here. Climbed back into the cockpit yesterday and haven't been able to really do much else besides lurk the forums and sit in the (often half-slagged) cockpit.

Sad to see my Brawler got hit upside the head with the nerfhammer, but happy to see the community is alive and well despite the hopelessness.

 

Not chugging 7+ energy drinks a day is throwing off my aim though. I need some time to get back into the swing of things.

I too had given up. I heard from the inside that the studio had dissolved and that future development for this game was never going to happen. It killed my mojo and I stopped playing...

Right after hearing the announcement about the Hawken IP being picked up by a new studio, I jumped back in.

 

Hopefully the new devs share our love for Hawken.

 

I've seen(been rocked by) some old faces and am trying to get my chops back.

I hopped on a couple days ago and can still dance the side-dash dance! Except now I'm good at A-classes instead of C-classes, when did that happen? My poor Brawler will go neglected if this keeps up.

i thot this was a thread for old people...glad to have you all back. no hostility for bailing from me: i stayed away for weeks at a time after the Ascension update.

if you really want a rusty skin, what i did is put on the clr-red skin and set saturation at about 20%. you can slide it until it looks dirty, rusty, or coated in dried blood (my fave)  :)

Rusty and old here. Daskarl and I have been going at it since last night and let me tell you, there isn't enough WD40 in the WORLD for me, but it seems to be chipping off bit by bit.

 

(Wasn't around here, mostly just in game though, trying to be a mroe active memeber of the community now. :D )

Old fart is back in the house. I left last spring/summer. Just came back after finding out about the new company. Played last night and today and had a blast. And at 61 now I really am the old and rusty. I think I actually am the oldest player, in age anyhow.  Still got the O2 hose up my nose, lol. But still hanging in there having fun. Nice to see everyone coming back. I have to admit I even missed some of you buggers! :p
