The players listed are commonly referred to by shortened forms of their name and are either in the top 100 by MMR or the first five pages of users by number of forum posts, so if you aren't listed, it's nothing personal. If you have any events you're personally responsible for, post them below and I'll add them to your name. 

 

A-Class: Light mech

AA: In Siege, the central anti-aircraft gun teams fight to control

AC: Air Compressor, a somewhat controversial internal that allows dodging in midair

ADH: Adhesive Games, the old developers of Hawken

AJK: AsianJoyKiller, a frequent poster on the forums

Amid: Amidatelion, a frequent poster on the forums

AR: Assault Rifle, a weapon

Ash: Ashfire908, creator of ScrimBot and developer

 

B-Class: Medium mech

Browser: The in-game server browser

BSB: Black Steel Brotherhood, a defunct influential clan

 

C-Class: Heavy mech

Cluster/CBM: Clusterbombman, a top-10 player by MMR

Comic/camic: comic_sans, a frequent poster on the forums

Crafty: CraftyDus, a frequent poster on the forums

CRT/CR-T: CR-T Recruit, an old mech that was given to all new players

Cupcake: Vanguard Cupcake, an exclusive mech which is functionally identical to the Vanguard that was given to purchasers of the Vanguard Initiative

 

Dave: IareDave, the top player by MMR and a frequent poster on the forums

Deathball: A clumped up group of teammates that makes taking ground and getting kills difficult. Especially prevalent on Uptown chokepoints

Delay: The 0.5 second delay to firing weapons after boosting

Der: DerMax, a frequent poster on the forums

Det: Detonator, an item

Dev: Developer(s)

DM: Deathmatch, a game mode

Dumbfire: Firing Hellfires without locking into an enemy

 

Eco: Last Eco, a map

Elite: EliteShooter, frequent poster on the forums

EOC: EOC Repeater, a weapon

EOC-P: EOC Predator, a weapon

EU: Energy Units, collected in Siege to launch battleships

 

Fake: FakeName, a frequent poster on the forums

FC: Fight Club, an old event started by Saturnine that consisted of 1v1s and novelty game modes

 

G2: Either G2-Raider or G2-Assault

G2A: G2-Assault

G2R: G2-Raider

GL: Grenade Launcher, a weapon

Green beam/green: The Technician’s ability

Gren: Grenadier, a mech

 

Hawkins: SA Hawkins, a weapon

HC: The free currency earned through playing matches. Able to purchase anything but cosmetics

HE: H.E. Charge, an item

Heat: HEAT Cannon, a weapon

Heroku/Herokuapp: A third-party tool that shows information on individual players as well as more detailed server info than is available in-game. Located at hawken.herokuapp.com. To check info about your username in particular, use this format: hawken.herokuapp.com/user/(your username here)

Hest: hestoned, a top-10 player by MMR 

HF/HFs: Hellfires, a weapon

Holo: Generally refers to the holotaunt consumable, but is also used as shorthand for the Hologram item

 

Incin: Incinerator, a mech

Infil: Infiltrator, a mech

ISM: ISM Disruptor, an item

 

KLA: Corsair-KLA, a weapon

 

Jeff: JeffMagnum, a top-10 player by MMR and frequent poster on the forums

Josh: capnjosh, the new producer

 

Leaderboards; Shadeness' third-party leaderboards, located here

Leon: Leonhardt, a frequent poster on the forums

Loc: LoC_TR, a frequent poster on the forums

 

MA: Missile Assault, a game mode

Mayhem: Mayhem servers, servers which hold more than the standard 10 or 12 players

MC: Meteor Credits, able to purchase almost everything. They must be bought with real money

Merl: Merl61, a top 10 player by MMR and frequent poster on the forums

Meta: Metagame, the current set of optimal strategies and loadouts

MIRV: Alternate firing mode for the Corsair-KLA

MMR: Matchmaking Rating, used to determine match placement and team balance

 

Nov: Nov8tr, frequent poster on the forums

 

Omega: OmegaNull, frequent forum poster

Omni: Omniscient Clan, currently the top clan in the game

Orb: Either a Repair Charge or what’s left after a mech is destroyed

Orblording: The practice of equipping a build using 3x Repair Charges and Advanced Repair Kit/Extractor and heavily relying on orbs to tank damage. Likely the most potent build in the current metagame

 

Pocket tech: A Technician that tends to stick with a singular player throughout the entire match, especially common when the ally is competent and in a heavy mech

PPA: B3-AR: PPA, a weapon

 

QM: Quickmatch, the in-game service that ostensibly places a player into the most suitable match for them

 

Red beam: Helix Repair Torch's alternate fire that damages enemies

Rev: Rev-GL, a weapon

RK: Repair Kit, an item

 

SA: SA-Hawkins, a weapon

Sahara: Old name for Bazaar that’s still used occasionally

Scanner: Portable Scanner

ScrimBot: A bot created by Ashfire to perform multiple useful functions; accessible in-game via the friend list

Seekerteer: A Rocketeer using its default weapon, the Seeker

Silver: Silverfire, a frequent poster on the forums

Skillfires: Derogatory term for Hellfires

SMC: Submachine Cannon, a weapon

SS: Sharpshooter, a mech

Stone: OmniStone, a top-10 player by MMR

 

T32: T-32 Bolt, a weapon

Tech: Technician, a mech with the ability to repair allies

Tickle: ticklemyiguana, a frequent poster on the forums

Tiggs: LadyTiggs, the new community manager under Reloaded

TDM: Team Deathmatch, a game mode

TPG: TPG League, Hawken’s main competitive event

TS: TeamSpeak, or more specifically, The Officially Unofficially Hawken Teamspeak

TTK: Time to kill, the amount of time required to destroy an enemy. Generally spoken of in relative terms, e.g. “The TTK was decreased from Ascension in the Steam update”

Turn cap: The limited speed at which mechs can turn in Hawken

 

USC/US-C: United States-Central server region

USE/US-E: United States-East server region

USW/US-W: United States-West server region

UVW: Ultra-Violent Wednesday, a European weekly event

 

WW: War Wednesdays, an NA weekly event

 

Xac/Mr. X: Xacius, a top-10 player by MMR, a frequent poster on the forums, and the most popular streamer

 

Zerker: Berserker, a mech

comp locational shorthand like bakery, library, etc., i hear sa-hawkins referred to as hawkins more than sa, probably worth noting cond0m as another top 10 player, rk for repair kit, red beam, hc/mc, heroku. may or may not be worth noting lesser hawken memes like "windwalking", and some more weapon abbrevs like kla, gl, t32, etc.

Is there a guide for those? I'm not familiar with all of them and don't use any except Library and a few others. Those suggestions are pretty solid, but I'm not including cond0m because ime he's not usually referred to be a shorthand version of his name. I'll edit that in in a bit

what also would be spiffy, but might take considerable effort, is to grab the basic maps graphics and label the major areas in them, like the Balcony, the Stage, Crates, etc (Wreckage). I've been here a while, and still have limited or no knowledge of a lot of them.

It took a long time for me to figure out where the Bakery and Library were--talk about obscure...

Since you've added BSB, I think it's reasonable to include some other old clans that get mentioned but aren't able to be looked up anywhere, ie: TAW and HFC - TAW being the hellish bureaucracy that raised the lead admins of The HKTS.

Axe: A lore-based term for the mechs of HAWKEN.

 

Cheese: Frowned upon metas. This includes certain mechs, items, or tactics.

 

PSR: The single most important metric by which players can asses their performance. So important in fact, that neither the way it is determined nor what it means can be declassified.

 

Hackusations: Accusations of using hacks. Typically experienced in game.

 

nep: nepacaka. A frequent forum poster and residential mech engineer.

 

OBHWG: "Oh boy, here we go." The official sign that a topic has been discussed too much.
