Hi hi!

So, simple/useful thread hehe

Post websites you find useful for the benefit of your fellow HAWKEN players!

1- http://giveawayoftheday.com/

A free software every day. There's some really useful stuff there and it comes in handy. If you have the time to download every software daily you'd end up with a huge treasure of software!

2- https://www.mathway.com/

Solve any sort of math problem. Really helpful for a student.

3- http://onlineclock.net/

Might come in handy :)

4- http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

To make you feel better (or worse) about your internetz.

5- http://www.canistream.it/

If you need to stream a movie without time wasting.

6- http://devdocs.io/cpp/

My personal favorite. I can't even ...

6- http://www.w3schools.com/

Best references/tutorials for all web-development related things. Absolute gold!

7- http://ideone.com/

Online compiler for all relevant programming languages. Not too shabby tbh.

8- http://www.downloadmoreram.com

The best website on the internet. I think it's better than a melee mech in HAWKEN.

Post yours below for a change to get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!

www.wolframalpha.com

However during college, I found the most useful site to be www.stumbleupon.com

I hate homework, but I enjoy learning and stuff. As such, my stumbleupon preferences are quite broad, ranging from nanotechnology, astronomy and particle physics to literature and roman history, with a fair helping of time wasting nonsense as well. I developed a strategy of sorts that ensured that if I decided to procrastinate on homework, it would be time well spent. (At this point I'd used the site for over a year, and my preferences were pretty refined.)

If I decided I wanted to use the internet, it would be through this, and I could browse as long as I wanted, but I had to read through all the content (unless it was something stupid) - meaning that if I reached the end of a page of jokes, and the next thing on was an article on heuristics and confirmation bias, I would have to either read the entire thing and treat it as a study, or do my homework.

Well. I walked out of school with a 2.5 GPA or something like that (I think it was 2.72), but the stuff I've learned just by being interested in the world has let me do pretty well for myself.

Oh, and for the actual homework:

BlurBusters - Pretty neat site that many monitor enthusiasts can relate to.

UFO Test - Related to BlurBusters; vast array of tools to offer deeper insight into your monitor and its specifications.

Lagom.nl - Monitor calibration toolset set to today's standards. Useful for when you want to improve the quality of the panel, as seen by your eyes.

NOAA GOES - If you know what to look for, you can actually trust this more than your local weather station. For those in Europe, see here. East Asia map is located here.

da whois - Domain & IP information lookup, traceroute, blacklist status, GeoIP, etc..

Hummingbird - Anime.

MapCrunch - Fun stuff, can browse the entire world through Google Maps.

IPViking Live - Real-time map that shows Internet threats from around the world.

Steam Status - Is Steam down, or not? Check the status of it here.

WTF Japan - WTF Japan?

Crypo - I've used this site for various encryption methods from time to time, pretty useful since it's centralized.

FinchVPN - Very solid, fast, and reliable VPN.

Midomi - This is quite possibly a trick that not many know, but you can use this site to find out any song playing on your desktop (through a Twitch stream, commercial, YT video that doesn't tell you about the song, etc etc.). Essentially, you need to record your Stereo Mix, and enable it as the default device. Then, Midomi should recognize that audio stream, and thus, will record it to look it up through its vast database. Been using it for over a year now, and I'd say it has an 80% success rate. From what I've seen, the database is comprised largely of songs contained in Amazon's music library.

Also, damnit Elite, I was going to suggest DownloadMoreRAM.

http://stackoverflow.com/

A rather useful website if you have a problem with your code, you want to check if your code is efficient, or you simply want to know how to code something. You can search to see whether someone has asked the same question as you wanted to ask, or you can ask yourself.

Helped me on a number of occasions.

I mean if you don't mind ads spotify and pandora are good (spotify is better). Also soundcloud has some pretty cool stuff.

Not sure about availability in Europe for spotify and pandora though. Might work, maybe not

Problem with spotify is that it's working with a software, and I don't know how to block ads with it. With Deezer, you only need a free account+adblock to listen to everything without ads. But both Deezer and Spotify lacks some releases.

And about Pandora (which I've never heard about before) : "We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S". fuzzy bunny censorship

Edit : And yeah, I forgot about Soundcloud and Bandcamp, both pretty solid music platforms which seems to be thought by musician for the love of music.

Really? I share premium with someone which is actually decently cheap (at least if you got like 2 weeks of playtime - all different songs) and haven`t encountered the ads thing that often, only long way back.
