CRITICAL ASSIST
Thank goodness we didn't come to the conclusion he was a hacker, or else this would have been a completely different post.
He likely queued. It's not his fault. He has every right to play. Is it right that he got put into your server? no. Is it his fault that he wants to play? no. You should be happy you got to play with one of the (if not the) best.
Thanks to Badtings for this awesome banner!
I know it's not his fault Merl. Last night at that event it was fun trying to take out the top players though I never even got but maybe a critical assist on any of em but it was fun trying
I think stating he should be happy he got the opportunity to get slaughtered is a bit on the "I dunno about that" side of the coin.

i am not blaming him for joining the game, i know he used the matchmaker to enter ,
i played several games in a row on this server before he joined, and we were all having fun, then.. well you know.
for the past month i had developed a system to avoid meeting those "game ruiners"
by using hawken.herokuapp.com and never joining any the the top 3-4 servers (ranked by mmr) i was able to find some nice game and have fun
until today.
i mean it's no big deal, i just left and chose another server, and i am good to go till next time

This means you're choosing to stomp players less-skilled than you.
Fie! The herd mentality says you must choose games at or above your own level. By your own admission, you are hung. Shame.

not mentioning that most of the time, i am not the player with the highest mmr

and before you accuse me of smurfing, for me a smurf is someone using an alternate account that doesn't reflect his real skill, all my acount have pretty much the same mmr 1500-1700.
you are permited to server browse, your problem is you can't because of your mmr

A smurf, in the sense used in this game, is short for 'Smurf Stomper'. In that sense, 'Smurf' is a small blue elf-like/dwarf-like character (Schtroumpf in the original French); a 'Smurf Stomper' is then one who goes out to stomp on (destroy without fear of retribution) players of lower skill.
I get that you're looking for competition at your level. And, when I was a 1500-level player, I created alts, too. Some of those I later went back and moved up to about 2000-level, but not past. I pretty much don't play any of them any longer (I use 'Discessus' for clan play).
We're all looking for games. I would like more people to play...

FIRST OFF WHAT THE FUZZ IS A "SHILL"
To be honest, he/she wasnt trying very hard from the looks of it and you were making it easy for them.
Flying while shooting a sustained weapon with a long spinup.. and not dodging, or going full bore into groups of them with your health almost out... and pretty much not using cover...
At one point he ran right by you and kept going. You were spared, and you still went after him..
+1 for Omni/Cluster or whoever.
Pwning noobs. They should be glad that they can learn.

And thread like this wouldn't even happen if MMRs are not visible and that epeen leaderboard isn't available, people would just write it off as "we suck, other team is better than us" and carried on with their lives.

Or, the people could clamor for a leaderboard, you know, sort of like history repeating itself.

I want to downvoting you again, you are and egoistic selfisch player, really gives me the creep.
@Thread,
that is again a clarification of the great hawken community again, i had this even when i was streaming, but many are complaining thats not what it is.
Game is unbalanced -> people don't sit
High MMR Gamer is stomping in unbalanced game -> he don't sit
I really dislike Veteran Pilots stomping new players and dont say its a good way to train new pilots, they can't learn because they get destroyed so fast, they will just be frustrated and likely never play this game again. Came off from your high horse and has some mercy.
Sometimes people where even calling ME a Stomper, in fact i wasn't. For example:
You have a game going on, its 5 VS 6 (you are in the team with 1 less player) and yet you manage to stomp the other side, so you choose to sit out -> what happens next is, that your team suddenly loose the game, because now its 4 VS 6 obv. a lot harder to play. So iam asking someone else to sit out and let me play to balance this game somehow and what happens next? Right, nobody want's to. So iam beginning to pick slowly people to kill to "even" the killcount, they get a kill, i get someone, they got one, i get someone and so on. And at the end i am the one with freaking high points in a "close" game like 40/38 and won. Somehow this sucks like to loose badly because you choose to sit out.
And then i had a lot of games i was sitting out because the eney was clearly falling apart. After i w as sitting the balancing was right, so i was waiting for new players to come. Suddenly they got not only 1, 2 and very good player and you know what? Of course they don't sit while i was for like 4min. in the corner and we loose badly whatever i do. YOu can imagine how angry i was every time and its every single time exactly the same.
So, all of this leads many players, maybe in the past kindly players, to stomp without thinking twice if they do the right thing, because everyone else is selfish and never sits or try to balance this game on there own.
Yesterday Ninja Goat was angry at me, because i played in 6 VS 5, but they were stronger in terms of points and our base had less points, so i thought it was a little bit unbalanced, so i choosed to play for the next 5min to find out if its unbalanced or not. Then he left while i was trying to the the right. After that someone else left and they had 1 less player, i was sitting out for, i don't know, 3-4min until 2 players came and 1 of our side. After that i played again and we were fighting really hard to hold the aa, sometimes we lost it and our ship in the air. So i thought it was balanced, but somehow we hold the aa 90% of the time, yet we fought back really really hard. At this point, if i choosed to sit out, my team would be stomped right away, so it was just slightly unbalanced for the other side.
In those games its very hard to do the right thing, but if a game is clearly unbalanced and the people choose to stomp, i have no respect for them. If i stomp new player, yet the game is extremely close, thats fair enough i would say, even if i do almost all the work with some support. Thats the only time i think its legit to play at full capacity.
Kind Regards,
Galaxy Radio

Yes because giving new players who play for fun a match against people who have wasted thousands of hours into a game and is in the elite is a good way to learn.

So that's why the majority of my teammates are bad ...
So most people don't learn ... right. Now the universe makes sense!
Srsly. They got pwned by one elite player, what's the deal? I mean it would be worse if your own team fails against a REGULAR player which happens quite often ._.

No you bloody idiot, most learn slowly through a gentle increase in challenge. Example being a 1600 player going into a 1700-1800 server, etc.

Come on Crafty, you have been officially called out on your lies. Your online reputation is at stake here, this is just like an old school street race running for pink slips. Its run what you brung and hope its enough. Put up or shut the fuzzy bunny up.
That doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the rankings, mech choice/team compo/team competence are all factors.
He likely queued. It's not his fault. He has every right to play. Is it right that he got put into your server? no. Is it his fault that he wants to play? no. You should be happy you got to play with one of the (if not the) best.

Are you serious???? So lets pick some random game, that u have never played (low tier hawken and high tier are totally diffrent*) a, and put you vs some top players around the world, who played for years. And see how much is fun being just war meat. Very funny. I bet playing vs similar skilled players is boring. eh.
Perhaps u forgot, but Hawken is video game you know, and purpose of playing video games is FUN. F.U.N. Thats why people play games. U got it? Cool.
He has right to play, it isnt his fault that he was put here, BUT WHY THE HELL HE HAS TO HOP IN HIS VERY MAIN MECH WHEN HE NOTICE THAT IT IS _RATHER_ LOW TIER GAME. Omg. I dont bother launching hawken while its too early, but if I i rly wanna, I can go for bot tdm, or try at least new mech/not main/one which i dont know how to play.
It his very fault that he stomped all those newbies. He had dozen options (play later/go bot tdm/try diffrent mech).

Summary: Shame on people like this one @ posted video. No respect for people smurfing just to abuse matchmaker. How u can enjoy game when u know how mean you are to others. I know MM is not perfect, 40:20 happens, but THAT???
Ofc, i dont mean do sux everytime, and dont use hard earned skills but... thats jsut matter of tiny amount of decency, to give others chance at least. What is wrong with you people.
*- never smurfed, but once i introduced my mate into hawken so i was teaching him waht to do, used community test drive accounts, i didnt participated in fighting), and then i realized how much newbies gamestyle differ form ours

This is what everyone happily dealt with in any non-MMR based server browser games like CS, HL mods and TF2 back in the days (dunno if that changed now). Admittedly Hawken is a very different game and a far smaller playerbase, but complete stomps still happen from time to time, and people managed just fine.
Maybe people are just more entitled with "fun" these days
Edited by reVelske, 23 June 2015 - 05:10 AM.
When you have spent a lot of time getting your e-peen up to nutso heights and you know someone is just waiting to edge you out, it's selfish but easy (when not staring at accusing posts on the forums) to just do your best and not lose 20 MMR because you died once. It's fairly easy to write off or forget a match that is irritating enough to others to merit a forum topic. It's also easy to enjoy the skill gulf and the winds of joy that blow from it.
Not vindicating, justifiable excuses, but understandable reasons, at least.
Really shows the difference between being in the top 10 and being #11. omnistone was completely powerless to stop him
Omnistone puts maybe 10 hours into the game a month - and that includes scrims/TPG.
We in EU usually sit out if the game is too lopsided. I gather that it's not a regular occurence in NA.

FIRST OFF WHAT THE FUZZ IS A "SHILL"
-snip-
Ah my dear friend. You will never be able to look through my eyes.
Look, there once was a player. He was world wide top 5. The best Infiltrator player I have ever seen.
In the times where I was still learning the game, I met this player very often. It was obvious that he would kill and wreck me and others in the match with ease.
I always were glad about that, always enjoyed his presence since I learned alot from him. However, he left around Steam or Ascnesion patch.
People want to have fun, for sure, but they also have to work for it. It is not like you pay (if you even do that) for a game and will be delivered with fun. Take a sport for example. Let's say basketball. You really like basketball and you enjoy playing it with friends. Suddenly the enemy team has one good player who defeats you 1v5.
Now you have multiple options:
A) Look what he is doing and campare in oder to improve
B) Get frustrated and stay at the very same level as before
B2) Make a forum post and hope for same-minded individuals
B3) Realizing that your post thread gets out of control due to overreacting individuals
B4) Realizing that the importance of this is equal to 0
or
C)
Now it is quite obvious that A) and C) are the best solutions.
Now, you see I said once to someone I want to change and improve, 'cause I usually don#t like annoying 'foes'. But people keep giving me reasons to not do that.
So exclusive and direct/straight forward for you, Hepta:
One will always be the noob if he/she refuses to get pwned by better players. No pain no gain. If one asks for success without the work then (in my opinion) this one person does have a worthless influence. In fact, I consider this whole thread as a cry post something like "I got my butt kicked, please help."
Oh and one more thing. For you, what will you do?
A) Keep telling me how bad I am (I don't give the slightest f*ck about that 'cause you have also no influence on me)
B) Help the guy and solve the problem

To allow players to get comfortable in higher level servers you must introduce them to it slowly. This will keep the player wanting to get better while still not getting frustrated.

This wasn't for you, Aregon. But if you want a reply:
I myself like to play with or against the top, always, no matter what, every game, every sport, whatever. Because you learn way faster this way. Yes it is frustrating at some point but the pay off is simply way bigger than if you learn slowly and 'gentle' like everyone else.

But does that work on everyone? What you are saying is based on your experience, which does not equal to everyone else`s experience.
